I am originally from Ohio and played college basketball and ran track for Miami University where I also studied Speech Language Pathology & Audiology as an undergrad. Following graduation in 2003 I moved to Nashville, TN where I spent the next 4 years working on my clinical doctorate degree in Audiology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After completion of my clinical fellowship in 2007, I decided to stay on staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a pediatric audiologist where I specialize in working with deaf/hard-of-hearing children and their families who receive cochlear implants. I am also the Educational Audiologist for the Mama Lere Hearing School at Vanderbilt (an auditory oral preschool for deaf/hoh children ages 3-6 years of age).
I had several undergraduate "majors" before deciding on Speech Language Pathology/Audiology and b/c of that my transcript reflects a wide variety of successfully completed coursework:) A few of my favorite classes were:
Kineseology, Child Development & Family Psychology, Anatomy & Physiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Communication Disorders, American Sign Language, and of course my basketball play book:)
A few of my favorite graduate classes:
Human Anatomy & Physiology, Neuroscience, Pathologies of the Ear, Nose, & Throat, Clinical Research & Design, Craniofacial Anomalies, Gerontology, Cochlear Implants, etc.
Interests outside of "School" & "Work":
Swimming (swam competitively for Westerville Aquatic Club of United States Swimming Association for 10 years), Running, Biking, Softball, Basketball, Javelin/Shot/Discus throwing, Recreational Volleyball, Writing Poetry, Arts & Crafts (designing decor for cochlear implant external speech processors and medical ID bracelets), & personal web page design.
