I am attending Anderson University. I am currently a senior elementary education/ special education major. I am currently tutoring two kindergarten students in reading. Last semester, I tutored a first grader in reading. Both of these tutoring experiences are included in a university class in reading. I am also tutoring a third grade student in reading. I have done several practicums in elementary classrooms.
I believe that a tutor should teach in a way that always engages a child. This means the child should be taught with methods that a students would have interest in. I also believe in finding out the student`s learning style and doing informal assessment throughout the tutoring to modify instruction if needed.
