I'm a graduate of UT Austin with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education! I student taught for a year and a half while obtaining my Bachelor's degree, which was an unusual opportunity. Most teaching programs require one semester of student teaching before you earn your degree.
Once I graduated, I had experience teaching in public and private schools. I taught primarily ESL students while in public schools and used many different techniques in my classroom to help give children a better understanding of the information they were trying to learn. I incorporate visual, tactile and audible learning and focused on all elementary curriculum, ranging from Reading, Writing, Penmanship and Phonics to Math, Science and Life skills. While working in the private school atmosphere, I taught accelerated curriculum for gifted students. I have training and experience teaching all ends of the spectrum and have had much success with my students excelling while having fun.
Furthermore, I tutored students in my free time that benefited from one on one attention. This always strengthened their confidence and helped them grasp the knowledge in a different way.
I have strong writing skills and have tutored higher grade levels in reading and writing as well. I am dually certified and I hold a current teaching certification in the state of Texas and in the state of Arizona!
