My name is Donna. I have taught in a classroom for twenty-nine years. Of those years, fifteen have been at the high school level and fourteen have been at the junior high school level. I have also done private tutoring.
I have a Math degree from the University of Michigan and a Special Education degree (in the area of Learning Disabilities) from Eastern Michigan University. I enjoy being a teacher and particularly enjoy teaching Math.
I enjoy Math and always try to make it enjoyable for my students.
Often students have difficulty in Math relating back to their struggles with Math in their early years in school. I try to find that snag in their understanding, clear it up, and proceed from there. I try to figure out the learning style of each student I am teaching. Then, I use that information to help me teach them better.
Since I have taught Math in grades seven through twelve, I am able to teach many levels of Math. My favorite of all areas of Math is Geometry though I enjoy teaching all levels of Algebra – from Pre Algebra through Algebra 2 and Trig.
While teaching in high school, I have been head of the Math Department. I have also been a coach to “Mathletes” involved in the nationally recognized MATHCOUNTS competitions. Locally, I have had my students involved in the Greater Toledo Competition of Teachers of Mathematics. I have led our school-wide competitions for many years and have proctored and graded papers at the local finals level of competition.
I look forward to hearing from you.
