I worked with Carlyle in the Spring, 2014 as I needed to improve my initial ACT score. For my first ACT test I participated in a group tutoring class (without Carlyle) which was of some benefit, but the score I attained, 27, was not enough to get me accepted in the schools of my choice. With Carlyle's subsequent individualized tutoring, I not only improved my math, English and reading skills, but Carlyle also taught me how to take the ACT strategically.
The time spent in the sessions with Carlyle just flew by. Most importantly, my ACT score increased to 34, with high scores in each of the categories. I enthusiastically recommend Carlyle to everyone wishing to significantly increase their ACT score or general studies grades.
I was impressed that Carlyle also took a personal interest in what was going on in my life. The choice of a good or great college is one of the more important decisions in life and my experience with Carlyle has provided me with the ability to be accepted into some of the top schools in the United States.
I came to Carlyle for help preparing for the LSAT this past winter. He had a very well thought out study time line and lesson plans. We worked through all of the different sections of the test using a few different prep books and exhausted nearly all of the practice questions in them. He was very patient and helpful in discussing the questions and helping to discuss the correct answers or how to arrive at the correct answer. Additionally he was very flexible in being able to work with me in the evenings after I was done working. He is also very pleasant and easy to get in contact with. Highly recommended! Thanks Carlyle!
Thanks for your generous feedback David. Congratulations on your great LSAT score and Law School Admissions for this coming Fall's first year class.
Carlyle was selected based on previous reviews posted on WyzAnt which all displayed nothing but great reviews. After 3 visits and a conversation with Carlyle on a few small issues we were under the impression that everything was fine. My daughter had expressed that after the conversation everything went great. A few hours before his 4th visit he advised us that he would no longer be assisting us. It was unfortunate that we weren't able to express our concerns and continue the sessions. Very disappointed!!!!!!
Tamaal, thank you for your feedback. And thank you for the 4 and 5 star lesson ratings you gave me for tutoring your daughter Jahaira. An acknowledgement of that kind for my professional services is especially gratifying. I wish you continued success.
Carlyle was pleasant, knowledgeable, and very informative on how he would assist our son in achieving his goal on the ACT. Our son felt confident and grateful for the tutoring sessions. Thanks for all your help.
We had Carlyle tutor our son for the English portion of the ACT. After just a few sessions, our son raised his English score on his ACT 7 points! We were thrilled. He was able to get the composite score he wanted to give him the best shot at acceptance to his first college choice. We really feel Carlyle did a fantastic job.
Thank you Angela for your very generous feedback. And, congratulations to Andrew for an exceptional performance on the ACT, especially the English section. Raising his score by 7 points is most impressive indeed! Keep up the great work Andrew!
My son says even after just two sessions, the information has been VERY helpful and he feels confident he will benefit greatly from continuing his sessions with Carlyle.
Mr. W. is very proficient in teaching English. He helped me raise my English ACT composite score by 5 points. He was punctual, reliable and encouraging.
Thanks for the feedback Preston and Congratulations!! Five Points is quite impressive.
Carlyle seems to take his tutoring very seriously, which I appreciate very much. I also like the idea that he keeps me informed on what was studied and how the lesson went. My son thinks that these tutoring lessons are helpful. He takes his first test today after having two tutor sessions with Carlyle. We will see how it goes.
Carlyle has been tutoring me for the LSAT. He knows what he's doing, as he has a lot experience and has tutored a wide variety of subjects. I have learned a lot from him that has helped me increase my scores on my practice tests/sections.
Carlyle was everything my son could ask for in an ACT tutor. He was able to explain concepts concisely and in easily understandable terms. Furthermore, he was patient and very comfortable to work with. He always went above and beyond, providing meaningful prep work between tutoring sessions which made each session extremely productive. Thanks to Carlyle, my son was able to raise the score in his weakest subject, science, a full eight points from his mock test. More importantly, he was able to increase his composite score six points from the mock. In doing so, my son achieved the target score of 30 that he was hoping for.
Thank you very much Libby for your generous feedback. And Congratulations to your son!!! Outstanding work! Do well this year!!
Carlyle did a great 1 on 1 job with my son prepping him for the ACT. He gave him homework which was great and really worked on his needs to study for the test. I would highly recommend Carlyle!
When my son was having trouble with his math, we turned to Carlyle for help. He immediately answered back the next morning setting up a time with my son. Carlyle was always punctual and willing to go the extra mile to help my son understand the material. He was very professional and a very likeable guy. My son was very happy with his style of tutoring and learned a lot from him. This is what my son had to say about Carlyle:
"Carlyle helped me to pass my College Algebra and Trig Class. This class combined both algebra and trig and the class moved at a very fast pace. Carlyle knew the material very well and was able to teach it to me in a manner so that I could remember the information. He showed me tricks that my teacher had not shown me during class which helped me to solve problems much quicker. He is very enthusiastic about his job and always comes ready to teach. We would study for up to four hours at a time and the whole time he remained extremely focused and kept me on track as well. He answered any question that I had. He explained every homework problem to me and showed me the best way to solve each problem. He was available whenever I needed him. He was a great guy and I was really happy to have him tutor me and get me through my math class."
I would not hesitate to recommend Carlyle for any tutoring needs. His method worked for my son and I'm sure it will help your student also. Thank you Carlyle!
Irene, Thank You very much for the generous feedback. I am thrilled that I was able to help out. Your son was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed my time with your family. I wish all of you continued success.
Carlyle has been wonderful. My son really has benefited from his tutoring sessions with him. He is very patient and knowledgeable. He is always willing to accommodate our schedule. We look forward to continuing tutoring services with Carlyle.
Thanks a lot Ryan. I appreciate your kind feedback. I enjoyed working with your son in geometry and ACT prep. I wish all of you continued success.
Carlyle is a great tutor! He helped my son get passed a rough part of his Algebra II class and he was very flexible with his time. He would meet my son anytime, anywhere and he was very responsive to my son's needs as a students and to our needs as parents. I would highly recommend Carlyle to any parent looking for a great tutor for their child.
When I contacted Carlyle, he responded promptly and gave me a good impression over the phone. Carlyle has been very professional, punctual with a good personality to work with students. He's very patient and explains concepts with details until the student has a full understanding. My daughter is confident her ACT score will improve even more with Carlyle's tutoring. Thank you!
Took time to explain and worked well with my son to improve his Math skills. My son says he is the first to raise his hand in class, and has much more self confidence. I would recommend Carlyle to anyone who is in need of a great tutor.
I started taking French lessons with Carlyle with very little prior knowledge of the language; Carlyle is very patient, and an outstanding tutor for anyone wishing to learn beginning French. With just a few months of tutoring, I have begun to develop a true understanding of both French grammar and vocabulary, and highly recommend Carlyle as a tutor!
Carlyle has been a great asset to my daughter. She was struggling with geometry. She was averaging a D and, with help from Carlyle, she received her first B on her test in geometry! Carlyle is great, shows up on time, and has a way of explaining math in a simplistic manner. My daughter and I look forward to working with Carlyle again.
Thanks for your help.
I'm very proud of your daughter. Keep up the good work!
I am in the 8th grade and Carlyle W. is tutoring me for the High School Entrance Exam for placement in a very prestigious and high academic school. Carlyle has lifted my confidence level in my Math and Language Arts skills. When I am in my Algebra class in school and my teacher asks a question, I find myself being able to answer immediately instead of doubting myself. My class average has gone from a 89% to a consistent 95%, which has remained there and isn't going back and forth. my personal goal is to achieve 100%. I love how Carlyle sits next to me in our tutorials, instead of across and in front of me. I don't feel like I'm in a classroom being lectured. I feel confident. Carlyle is there by my side and assures me it's ok to make a mistake and we can find the right solution together. Carlyle guides me to the correct answer and he makes it easy to put difficult strategies into context. THANKS CARLYLE!
Carlyle helped me greatly with the ACT (the English section in particular). We reviewed questions carefully and he was sure to explain any concepts I found difficult. He was very patient with me and worked to my pace; while continually motivating me and giving me praise when deserved. He was always on time and prepared to work, knowing exactly where we had left off and what we would be working on next. Thanks to him, I feel much more confident in my ability to score well on the English section.
Carlyle prepared me well for all sections of the test and provided me with tips and tricks to help manage my time effectively. He was a great help and I would strongly recommend him to anyone seeking help in their studies!
With Carlyle's help my ACT English score went up 8 points, and I scored in the 97th percentile for the section! Thank you Carlyle!
Congratulations Jessica!! An 8 point increase is fantastic news to be sure! It was indeed a pleasure working with you on your ACT Prep and I thank you for your generous feedback. Have a great senior year, and continued success in the future.
In a nutshell. I would recommend Carlyle to anyone. PATIENT, UNDERSTANDING, KIND, and frankly helped my daughter solve the MATH stigma that was SO upsetting her that her PAID teacher wouldn't give my daughter the time of day to help her. A great guy. And a GREAT tutor. I would refer him to any one needing help for their child.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT English can be tricky if you do not know what the ACT is really testing for. I currently teach an ACT Prep course and can teach you how to raise your score significantly by showing you exactly how to always answer each question question correctly.
I currently teach an ACT prep course; and what students need most are techniques to help them improve their time. I can show you how to move quickly and effectively through word problems, quadratic equations and factoring and geometry. There are only three or four Trigonometry questions on the ACT.

You only have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions so they are testing your ability to target information which I will teach you how to spot.
I have been teaching ACT prep for many years and more than anything else this test is about strategy. The science section is not testing your knowledge of science, but rather your ability to understand wording in the questions and match it with the text of the passage or the charts and graphs.

I am uniquely qualified to do private and group tutoring with students who are preparing for the COOP/HSPT because I have been teaching a course for these tests for the past several years. Unlike the SSAT and the ISEE, the COOP/HSPT include exercises involving punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and grammar, particularly subject-verb agreement. I find that many students who are about to enter competitive secondary schools really need some fortification in these areas which I provide quite effectively. I immediately introduce a rigorous vocabulary enhancement strategy which always proves a profitable endeavor for my students.

The General Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States, in other English-speaking countries and for English-taught graduate and business programs world-wide. Created and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS), the exam aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study. The GRE is offered as a computer-based exam administered by selected qualified testing centers.
The GRE was completely overhauled in August 2011, creating an exam that is not adaptive on a question-by-question basis, but rather by section, so that the performances on the first verbal and math sections determine the difficulty of the second sections shown.
Overall, the test retained the sections and question types from its predecessor, but the scores were changed to a 130-170 scale.
ETS erases all test records that are older than five years, although graduate program admission policies of scores older than five years will vary.
I am uniquely qualified to do private and group tutoring with students who are preparing for the ISEE because I have been teaching a course for this and the SSAT for the past several years. It has been my experience that many students who are approaching the rigorous and highly competitive independent secondary schools application process require some fortification in certain areas--particularly reading comprehension and vocabulary. I immediately introduce rigorous vocabulary enhancement and critical reading strategies--the employment of which always proves a profitable endeavor for my students.
The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is a half-day standardized test administered four times each year at designated testing centers throughout the world. Administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for perspective law school candidates, the LSAT is designed to assess reading comprehension, logical, and verbal reasoning proficiencies. An applicant cannot take the LSAT more than three times within a two-year period.
The current form of the exam has been used since 1991. It has six sections: four scored multiple choice sections, an unsecured experimental section, and an unsecured writing section. Raw scores are converted to a scaled score with a high of 180, a low of 120, and a median score of around 150. When an applicant applies to a law school, all scores from e past five years are reported. As of June 2012, it costs $160 (USD) to take the LSAT in the United States.
Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical and generally systematic approach, and its reliance on rational argument. The word "philosophy" comes from the Greek and literally means "lover of wisdom." The main areas if inquiry in philosophy today include metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, and aesthetics. Metaphysics is the study of the most general features of reality, such as existence, time, the relationship between mind and body, objects and their properties, etc. Epistemology treats of the nature and scope of knowledge, such as the relationships between truth, belief, and theories of justification. Logic is the study of the principles of correct reasoning. Ethics or "moral philosophy" is concerned primarily with the question: "what is the best way to live?" and secondarily with the question of whether this can be answered. Aesthetics deals with beauty, art, enjoyment, sensory-emotional values, perception, and matters of taste and sentiment.

As a public speaker, whether it be within the business or political sphere, or of the inspirational, motivational, educational, or humorous variety, I know that the key is in learning and mastering material, using questions to teach, greetings and introductions, standing behind what I say, knowing my audience and being intimate with my audience. I teach the techniques of operating as a Personality Dimensions Facilitator which includes: understanding time allotment, bringing balance to activities to suit individual and group activities, working with group sizes 25-50 people, allowing participants to do the work through an involved format, identifying with each temperament group and make them feel special and valued, and more. If you want a speaker that can make you laugh and learn while bringing out the absolute best in you and your organization, I am your best bet. Rest assured, when I leave the speaking platform, my message will not leave you.
