Hi! My name is Emily and I earned by BA in English from the University of Michigan in 2010. Writing is my passion — I worked as a newspaper reporter and editor for my student newspaper throughout college, and then worked as a writing tutor through AmeriCorps after graduation. I currently work as an editor for a literary magazine, and I love reading and examining language as an art form. I am happy to help with editing and proofreading essays as well as literature analysis (my favorite subject is poetry). When proofreading essays, I typically review them for structural and grammatical errors first, and then look for content. I ask questions and make comments, and then return the essay to the student to make corrections. Writing is a process and requires much revision no matter what level you are, and so I am more than willing to read multiple drafts. Writing and analysis take practice, but they can also be a lot of fun, and I hope to encourage students to be creative.
