I recently completed my PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics at Washington University in St. Louis, where my research focused on cancer biology, molecular genetics, and functional genomics. I also have a B.A. in Computational Biology and Genomics from WashU. My research has given me extensive experience in cell and molecular biology, genetics, microscopy, experimental design, and data analysis. I am comfortable tutoring general biology as well as genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, or other related topics.

Teaching and mentoring have been a regular part of my academic experience. During graduate school, I trained undergraduate students and newer members of my lab in experimental techniques, study design, troubleshooting, and data analysis. I have also been a teacher's assistant at the graduate level, teaching lessons, assisting with homework, and providing study materials for class. Much of this involved working one-on-one with students and adjusting my explanations based on their level of understanding. I enjoy taking a complicated topic and breaking it down into smaller pieces so that it is easier to understand and apply.

I have worked with students in both undergraduate research and graduate research settings, and I am comfortable working with high school and college students. My goal when tutoring is to help students understand why something works rather than just memorize an answer. I also want students to feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems without feeling like they are expected to know everything right away.

Approved Subjects

ACT Science

ACT Science

I recently completed a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics at Washington University in St. Louis, where I conducted research in cancer biology, genetics, and molecular biology. My research required extensive experience interpreting graphs, tables, experimental results, and complex scientific data across a variety of experiments. I have also mentored and trained students and researchers at different levels, helping them break down complex scientific concepts and approach problems systematically. I enjoy teaching students how to identify key information, interpret data efficiently, and apply scientific reasoning rather than relying on memorization.
Biology

Biology

I recently earned my PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics from Washington University in St. Louis, where I spent over five years studying cancer biology, molecular genetics, and functional genomics. My expertise includes cell and molecular biology, genetics, DNA damage, and cancer biology, along with hands-on experience in experimental design, microscopy, and data analysis. Throughout my PhD, I mentored undergraduate students and trained researchers, adapting my explanations to help learners understand complex biological concepts and apply them to real-world research. I enjoy helping students build a strong conceptual foundation and develop confidence in their ability to solve biology problems.
Genetics

Genetics

I recently completed a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics at Washington University in St. Louis, where I studied how genetic and molecular changes contribute to cancer development and treatment response. My research involved molecular genetics, functional genomics, DNA damage and repair, gene regulation, and genome instability, with extensive experience designing and interpreting genetic experiments. I have also mentored and trained students and researchers at different levels, helping them understand complex concepts and develop strong problem-solving skills. I enjoy breaking down challenging genetics topics into clear, intuitive explanations and connecting concepts to real biological examples.
Softball

Softball

I was a 4-year NCAA Division III softball player at Washington University in St. Louis, playing second base, right field, and left field. After I graduated, I stayed with the program at Washington University as a Graduate Assistant coach for 5 years, earning the three conference Coaching Staff of the Year Award. I have extensive coaching experience in hitting mechanics and fielding skills, working and training under former Division I coaching staff.
