Wyzant is a great opportunity for college students to supplement their income. The website is very user friendly and simple for even the most inexperienced of tutors.
As a tutor, wyzant is great. It offers a quality website that consolidates the search for multiple subjects. So to my clients, it appears that I'm much bigger than I am. This gives me great visibility, and gives the customer more confidence since this is a 'company' instead of am individual. The billing is very convenient, and really shields both the customer and the tutor from billing concerns.
So far, my experience with WyzAnt has been quite pleasant and very beneficial, during the few short months I have been a WyzAnt tutor. The supply of prospects has been quite good. (I don't know how they promote the website, but so far it seems to be working quite effectively -- especially when compared to others on which I am listed.) Also, the percentage rate of return is quite reasonable (especially after the first 50 hours ;^), and generally better than most other similar services. The company's attitude has been quite good, so far, and the problems usually get fixed reasonably well and promptly. I also appreciate their sincere desire for feedback -- plus the fact that (unlike some others) they don't seem to be offended by complaints (or even nit-picking about exam questions). bam ("Professor BAM") P.S. Over the past few decades, I have dealt with at least ten different tutoring agencies (in addition to having worked for two major test-prep firms, and having my own private clients). I would consider WyzAnt to be one of the top two, if not the best of them all.
I have really enjoyed my time tutoring through WyzAnt over the past year and a half. I've had many opportunities to share my knowledge and abilities in various subject matters with all different ages of people, from kids to adults. It is so much fun to watch people learn and grow week after week or have a one-time session where they are determined to master something quickly. Plus you can't beat the safety and reliability that WyzAnt offers. It's comforting to know that you don't have to worry about not getting paid and there's a certain amount of security. I hope to have many more great students in my future!

It was simply: I don't think so. <br /> <br /> But then a few days passed. Something was gnawing at the back of my mind. While looking for additional source of income, I decided to look for more tutoring opportunities. As I had stopped tutoring for two years, I figured I could find a company to work for that would take care of most, if not all of the things that I found tedious. Doing a Google search, Wyzant caught my eye. <br /> <br /> I took the two hours I needed to sign up as a tutor. I took all the qualifying exams, wrote the necessary qualifying essays, and created my WyzAntProfile. And I sat back and waited for the clients to come in - even though Wyzant warned me that it may take time. Time it did take. It was two months before I had my first client through them. I now have four clients and am receiving prospective client notifications of five per week on average. <br /> <br /> The things I like about Wyzant are easily listed: <br /> <br /> 1. Fairness of compensation <br /> <br /> Being a Web-base business, Wyzant is easy to use to keep records of lessons, keep track of student progress, and to keep record of income earned. The information is always accurate and we receive information, payment, new prospects in a timely manner. The marketing is excellent: on any given day I can Google for tutor in Bolingbrook, IL and I am listed in the top five results. And on top of all that, Wyzant's keeps a relatively small percentage of any fees earned by me. And even better that percentage shrinks over time as I complete more lessons. Oh, and they just introduced direct deposit! <br /> <br /> Overall my experience with Wyzant has been positive. I would recommend any tutor to at least take the time to try working with Wyzant and see if they make a good fit. I don't think you would regret it. <br />
Great people and excellent referals
I have been very happy with my clients through this service and feel safe going to student's homes. I have been listed on several other sites, but only get my clients through WyzAnt no matter where I have lived. I have been working steady and have a lot of clients to choose from. I've never had a better second job!
Even as a graduate, finding a job in this economy is difficult. I've struggled since high school to maintain a lifestyle that allows me to actually enjoy life and make the money I need to pay bills. Wyzant has finally given that to me. I can now choose my schedule for a second job and enjoy spending time with my friends and family at any convenience, and not just that of my employer. Thank you Wyzant for allowing me to do what I love best, both professionally and personally!
I had previously worked as a Math and Physics tutor in Los Angeles before joining Wyzant. The students I tutored were primarily College and high school students. Wyzant has since plunged me into a network of students that is varied, academically challenging and yet rewarding; From the UCLA Alumni aiming at Vet School to the professional paralegal seeking a promotion; From the MBA candidate in Glendale to the Public Servant in South Gate. I have witnessed students thirst for understanding in Math and Physics. This has opened a new academic and professional horizon for me and other dedicated Wyzant tutors in Los Angeles. Working with WyzAnt has been a great experience overall. I am incredibly grateful to have found so many great English, ESL, Language Arts, Spanish, Proofreading and Test Preparation students through WyzAnt. Now, if only I could find some students in Anthropology, my college major and a subject I love tutoring, the experience would be complete! My students range from a visiting PhD. scholar at Stanford, to college and high school English, ESL, Spanish, and SAT students, to a 3rd grader in my hometown of Pacifica, and they have all been wonderful to work with. The WyzAnt website is generally easy to use and is a great tool for attracting new students. WyzAnt's office staff are friendly, very competent, and a pleasure to deal with. I have never had any 'customer service' issues with WyzAnt. It's amazing how smoothly it runs. There are only two things I'd like to see improved - the commission rate and the rewards points system. I'd like to be able to move to a higher commission rate more rapidly and would like to see the rewards points system expanded to give tutors points for high student ratings, such as I have, and for productivity. I have completed 200+ hours with WyzAnt and look forward to many more.
I have been impressed with the professionalism of WyzAnt. With such a large number of tutors nationwide, the company still takes a keen interest in making sure things run smoothly. Having never worked before for such a large company, I had some doubts. But I have become one of WyzAnt's most vocal supporters. Good job!
I have been a tutor for the last 7 years. During this period, I have experienced many ups and downs of this field. It is indeed a great experience to be part of the WyzAnt team. Here are a few key points that distinguish WyzAnt from others: 1) Their selection process ensures that only qualified tutors are on their panel, which in turn ensures quality. 2) Their way of communication is excellent. As soon as there is an interested student, it is published on web page and email is sent to the tutors in that area. If the student has sent any email to the tutor through the website, the tutor is informed via email immediately. In the email, it is clear whether WyzAnt has billing information or not. If billing information is there, we can exchange our phone number to make the communication fast. In today’s fast world, this quick communication makes a lot of difference and distinguishes WyzAnt from other websites. 3) Their method of payment is very good. I was really impressed when I received my first payment on the date specified without any reminders. It is really awesome when one gets his/her due payment. The best part is when they released the payment, I got a very prompt email stating “your payment is on the way.”. 4) Their different schemes to motivate the tutors are really excellent. It really motivates me to do better and better day-by-day. 5) Last but not least, I want to say that WyzAnt is indeed a vibrant team of tutors and coordinators. I feel proud of myself to be part of it.
My experience with students has been a very positive one. I like the fact I can choose my own hours and decide when I want to work. The payment system and entering of lessons into the system is great. I also like the fact that students can search for me and contact me if they are interested in my tutoring services. So, far the experience has been a positive one and I look forward to more lessons.
So far, so great!
I joined WyzAnt as a tutor a few weeks ago. I took the various math (and physics) subject tests in order to be certified (easy!). Since then I have sent emails to more than a dozen prospective students, and while most of them didn't respond, a few inquired further and one has begun using me as a regular tutor. I find the site easy to navigate and very easy to use, both for looking for tutoring jobs and for keeping track of all the emails coming and going (the entire mailing procedure is designed quite well). It is also quite simple to submit my lessons and also see my earnings grow. I appreciate getting an email from WyzAnt, usually one per day, informing me of new tutoring opportunities in my area. The email serves as a reminder to go look on the site for possible students to contact. It would be helpful to know if a prospective student is not interested in my services (after I spent the time to email them) -- I certainly can't expect them to send me an email saying so -- however, if they have decided to begin using a different WyzAnt tutor, then I would at least know that they were no longer looking around. As it is now, I'm not sure when to "remove" the prospective student from my list of "current" students. Maybe the list of "current students" that I see on my profile page could differentiate between prospective students and those who are actually using me as a tutor. (Might that same list also indicate if the student has begun work with another WyzAnt tutor?) I increased my usual hourly rate somewhat to reflect the pay rate percentage (60% to start, 65% after 20 hrs. etc.), and I have been a little concerned that prospective students might be discouraged from using me as a tutor because my rate is higher than many other tutors on the site. I am struggling to balance the two competing factors -- the amount I think my time is worth vs. the minimum I would be willing to accept (in order to attract more students). Although I want to be well paid (and believe I'm worth it), in the end I so enjoy the process of teaching and mentoring young students that I am quite willing to lower my rate when requested to do so (as I have done for my first regular student). This is an ideal site for tutors to connect with prospective students. I look forward to getting more students, and the day when my pay percentage increases! Thanks.

My experiences with WyzAnt have been great. I like the way it is set up. It is easy and convenient for all people involved.
I've found WyzAnt to be a convenient way to meet great students who need the talents I have to offer. The kids I've met are great, and come to their lessons prepared. Their parents appreciate the fact that I listen carefully when we first meet and that I make a plan based on what the student needs. The lesson submission function on WyzAnt makes it really easy to communicate with parents about the general content of the lesson and how their child responded. It helps keep the communication flowing. This site makes it easy to keep records of tutoring sessions and I encourage those with academic skills to check it out.
I must say, I didn't feel too confident about WyzAnt when I first signed up, but they've proven me wrong. Basically, I felt I would be lucky to find even one student, but it turned out that there are people posting for new tutors every day, and contacting them is so easy and straightforward that I actually do it! What's more, people have actually contacted me directly, which is wonderful! And they started doing that almost as soon as I signed up. I think part of the success is in having a very complete profile that says a lot about you. I imagine parents looking for a tutor want to know about you before contacting you. That's something else that I like about WyzAnt: the way the profile page is organized. Basically, it has something for everyone. For those who don't like to read too much, the basic information is there in the first part, very easy to find. But there's also lots of room to write a letter to those parents who want to know more (and, BTW, in the letter, the keywords, like the classes you teach, etc, are automatically highlighted. That's a very good idea) One other important thing I'm happy about: payment has been very prompt every single time and I have not had a single problem. I haven't tried the direct deposit yet, because I find it easier to keep track of it if I get a check, but if the checks are anything to go by, I expect the direct deposit to work perfectly too.
Excellent Overall Service
Although only registered with WyzAnt since June, 2011, I am thoroughly pleased with the overall excellence of the website (especially the automated "New Opportunities" e-mails based on one's subject areas & radius area parameters), customer service, and the option to "View New Jobs." The "View New Jobs" option is an extremely valuable feature, particularly for me since the other (2)tutoring/coaching businesses with whom I am registered do not have this feature. Even though my 1st student was a short-term contract, I made the connection (10) days after registering. For me, that was a quick & great turnaround! I look forward to a long-term & successful experience with WyzAnt. :o)
Of all the tutoring companies that I have worked with, WyzAnt has proven to be the most reliable in terms of student referrals and also the most rewarding as to the nature of those assignments. I have enjoyed working with all my WyzAnt students and feel that I have been successful at helping them learn Latin and Greek. Not a small matter, also, is their helpful and dependable payroll system, now made even better with their daily payment schedule.
I have had a very positive experience working with WyzAnt. First, the company markets the program on the web on every conceivable educational and employment web site. This increases the opportunity to attract new students. In addition, they send a daily bulletin out to me listing new potential students and their needs from my area who are looking for tutors. They have a very efficient system allowing you to contact new potential students every day, thus helping to add new students to my "tutoring business". I have found that almost every step is covered in terms of communicating with parents, establishing a fee, and all the other steps in between. This makes it so my main focus is meeting with students and setting appointments for tutoring. They already know my field and my history from the tools WyzAnt has given me. My experiences as a tutor have been wonderful. It has been a number of years since I left teaching to work in the non-profit area. After tutoring, I feel like I never left. I have enjoyed the one on ones and the chance to help. Really, my only concentration is on the lesson and children as WyzAnt has set everything up for me. Right now I have two terrific students with a supportive family that cares enough to hire someone to help their children. The freedom to construct my own lesson is similar to the academic freedom I had as a classroom teacher. This enables me to be as productive and innovative as I can. I thoroughly am enjoying this program and recommend WyzAnt to anyone interested in education!

I Love Working With WyzAnt
Tutoring with WyzAnt is an amazing way to reach students I would not otherwise know about. It has been an important and rewarding addition to my work life (and income). I have a wonderful group of motivated students who value learning and parents who reinforce good study habits and academic achievement. In many ways, it's the easiest teaching job I've ever had, and there are very few downsides. Students are friendly, parents are easy to work with, and even the driving I do has benefits because I get to see farms and countryside I did not even know were in my county! Watching spring arrive has been a beautiful bonus to driving from student to student!

Since starting with WyzAnt, I have found four students to tutor. I am so busy now, it's great. Professional Site - Highly Qualified Tutors!
I have worked with WyzAnt for 3+ years and have been so pleased with the entire experience! The applications and software make the business portion of my tutoring so simple and efficient! Simple and Slick
Just recently I had my first tutoring job and I must admit that I was skeptical of the whole system when I first heard about it through another tutor in the system. Once I did the sessions and submitted the lessons, I was surprised to find that the structure of billing and finding lessons was so easy! I really love the flexibility and simplicity that WyzAnt offers without compromising the validity of the tutor! The structure is so simple anyone can do it and the layout is so professional that it gives each tutor an edge!
WyzAnt is an excellent resource for both the student and the tutor! An easy to use format allows students to find a local tutor and contact them for help in a particular subject. The most useful tool I have found, so far, is the email notification. If a student sends an email to you, the WyzAnt team sends your personal email account a notice. I don't have to check my email on WyzAnt daily! I have too many email accounts to keep track of. Thank you WyzAnt!

I like WyzAnt because I can concentrate on tutoring and never have to worry about payment issues or collecting money. This is helpful because I can use the post-session time to discuss how the student is doing with the parents.
My WyzAnt Experience
I have always been interested in tutoring, but I put it off because it was difficult for me to discuss charges with a potential student. WyzAnt removes all the awkwardness about money and keeps records for me as well. Lesson histories, dates of services, submitted applications, payment records, and my WyzAnt rewards are all kept organized and readily available for me. Over time, I have discovered any problem I may encounter is quickly cleared up with a simple phone call because WyzAnt always gets back to me in a very timely manner and seems to have a solution for any situation.
At the beginning I was quite cautious - I had never worked with WyzAnt before although I have two dozen years of teaching and tutoring experience. WyzAnt has an amazingly well-organized and user-friendly website. Another good surprise was how fast and easy it was to receive the first payment. And finally, the best part: my student looks quite happy with her classes - thanks, WyzAnt!
First class all the way!
I've been tutoring on WyzAnt since 2014 and it's become a dream job. Without WyzAnt, I could've easily faced financial ruin during the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, I found myself working 12+hour days every day and I have finally achieved financial security. There are of course pros and cons to any job, but when you get to work for yourself and have no boss it's hard to complain. The support team has promptly fixed every single issue I've ever had and and they have been extraordinarily polite and professional.
Whether you are a student or a tutor, WyzAnt is great for finding the tutor/student for you. If you are tutor, you are emailed as soon as someone asks for your subject. Since WyzAnt is prompt, students will find the right tutor quickly. WyzAnt takes care of collecting the fees from the student and paying the tutor.
It's a lot of fun to share knowledge and skills that I have worked hard to gain. It's always a delight when my cell phone buzzes with a text message alerting me that there's a potential student in Champaign-Urbana.
My experience with WyzAnt has been very positive so far. WyzAnt is an excellent organization and they make it very simple for students to find tutors or vice-versa. The biggest problem with the experience so far has not been their fault; namely, that students will post an ad for help and never respond again. That is outside their control, of course, but other than that it has been a very positive experience.
Working with WyzAnt has been very easy. That is the best word to describe it. They are really on top of things. Everything is happening in the way it was explained. The students I've gotten have been great, reliable clients who are very easy to work with, and payment always occurs on time, and is very easy to maintain. Also, if there is any question, the reps at WyzAnt are very easy to reach and knowledgeable. Tutoring under this service has been a great experience.
Increased Demand Due to Wide Network
The demand for my tutorial services has never been as good as this! Wyzant's access to a wide network connects me, the tutor, to job prospects within the Wyzant website, thus keeping demand for my services at an all time HIGH! Clients are generally honorable and respect terms at the get go. As a tutor, I keep to the one-hour session limit in order to reach objectives efficiently and quickly.
My experience with WyzAnt is very positive. The students that I have worked with are a mixed group, of course. Most students can get back into focus and others need more time to become better students again. It is usually a student that gets overwhelmed with school and needs to get a restart that needs some tutoring. After a restart most students get serious and then no longer need a lot of help. This increase in activity directed at school and school problems causes a wonderful new beginning and a much better student.
Wyzant has been a great help in increasing my number of students. The system works very well and is painless. Between finding students through Wyzant on our own by searching for local potential clients who are looking for tutoring services such as those we can provide, and through being directly contacted by those parents who find our profiles and think we'd be a good fit, Wyzant allows us two great avenues for adding to our student roster. Also, we do not need to deal with the financial end of things, as Wyzant takes care of all payment issues. The tests we take to qualify to tutor specific subjects are well-grounded, and fun for those of us who actually enjoy taking tests. Plus the fact we can work with Wyzant along with whatever other jobs and/or tutoring we have, and we can set our own schedules regarding availability and how far we are willing to drive, makes this a perfect situation for anyone who enjoys working one-on-one with students and essentially wants to be his or her own 'boss'.
Excellent Resource!
I joined WyzAnt during mid-2014. On the tutor side of things, the dashboard and tools at disposal for tutors is about as much as a tutor can ask for. Recent changes have also made the digital side of things more seamless. For students, the service itself can be a wonderful base or resource with which they can find tutors they like meeting with and augment their own study plans with outside help or reference. All in all, I find that my students are extremely satisfied, largely in part, due to the fluidity of the process as well as access to sincere, honest reviews and ratings. This kind of transparency tends to lead inevitably to high quality tutors actually finding the right fit. The flexibility of meeting in person or online helps make improvement a work in progress, rather than an all-or-nothing gamble. School itself is based on consistent improvement, so being able to identify the right tutor and carry out a simple plan of action with all the little things taken care of is the most powerful part of the WyzAnt service. I would recommend using WyzAnt to anyone looking to move in the right direction academically!
Bookkeeping is easy
The best part about being involved with Wyzant is that all I have to do is enter my hours after I tutor and Wyzant does the collection and sends me payment. One of the worst things about tutoring is collecting for lessons. A tutor has his or her head on creatively presenting the material. It is an entirely different part of the brain, apparently, that focuses on charging for a lesson and collecting money. I don't want to negotiate a fee, keep track of amounts owed, play the tough guy, or accept payment. Wyzant allows me to stay fully in the role of helpful teacher. Thanks.

Fantastic Facilitators
As a new tutor for WyzAnt I enjoy that I did not have to run around chasing students as well as being concerned over payments. The background check also makes the families where I go, feel at ease in regards to who is assisting their child. I LOVE IT!
