All potential so far
I have only been aboard about a week and have only found potential jobs. I've emailed close to ten opportunities, 3 have replied and of those, one seems interested when the semester begins in September. In the last half of August, there are virtually no current classes in session, so I can't expect as much. I'm anxious to see how things pick up once school is back in session. I'm very comfortable with the layout and functioning of the site. I can easily find opportunities and respond to them.
It was very easy to sign up as a new tutor. My Profile page is very attractive. The Marketing Materials that you offer are excellent. It was less than a week before I received my first client. I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT BEING A WYZANT TUTOR!
Great Opportunities to render Service
I have had the opportunity to utilize my skills as a means providing a needed service, with the overall intent of giving back to others, because knowledge gained is something that one will take with himself or herself, and no one can take it away. WyzAnt has provided me with an excellent platform, with modern day technology, to do this and I encourage others to utilize WyzAnt's features with the ultimate intent providing a real service by enhancing our society.
WyzAnt has live people to talk to, should you call in about an issue! That's been very helpful to me as a fairly new tutor, when I had a few topics in dealing with students that seemed to fall outside the the FAQ set of answers, or frankly I thought the topic wouldn't be covered and so I didn't look there. The several reps answering the phone are very easy to talk to, easily understand the issues I've raised, and come up with practical solutions.

My tutoring experience with Wyzant has been seamless and better organized than I could have accomplish without the organization's help. Despite having run a language school myself for nearly 5 years, I have found that working freelance has many pitfalls including enforcing cancellation policies, keeping track of billing, and payment information for taxes at end of year. Working with Wyzant allows me to accept credit cards, basically, and be assured that payment will be forthcoming on a regular schedule. In addition, the communication between student and tutor is greatly enhanced by the online session reports which also help me to keep track of what my student and I have done together. Finally, the staff at Wyzant is intelligent, helpful and responsive. I have recommended other teachers to Wyzant with the knowledge that their experience will undoubtedly be as consistently good quality as my own has been. Many thanks!
The website is good
The website is easy to use. The payments are made in a timely fashion. The two tutoring jobs I've had so far have been quality clients and we have worked well together. I think the payment plans deter many potential tutoring jobs.
Excellent for Tutors and Students
I started with WyzAnt 13 months ago and they have provided me with many tutoring opportunities. Based on over 600 hours of tutoring through WyzAnt, I strongly recommend WyzAnt to anyone interested in tutoring and to anyone in need of a tutor. For tutors, they have excellent marketing and administrative skills. They handle all the billing and allow you to focus more on tutoring. For students, they certify tutors, provide student feedback on the tutors, display background information on tutors and courses, safely and reliably handle billing, etc. WyzAnt is an excellent alternative for both tutors and students.
How to Make Uploading Videos Easy For Your Tutors
You've done a good jobs mapping out most of the information tutors need. But when it comes to uploading videos the site needs to be improved. This is what you need to tell your tutors: -The video file formats accepted: (i.e. .AVI,.MPEG4,.WMV .FLV ) -The size it must be under: 100MB (BEFORE THEY LOAD THE VIDEO- not at the moment they load the video) - How to compress their videos if needed: Open and resave in Windows Live Movie Maker, use http://www.youconvertit.com , etc. Telling your tutors that the rules for YouTube apply is not helpful. Especially since YouTube accepts a larger file size than Wyzant.

Wyzant has been an excellent resource to reach more students. I have been able to help students in both a short-term capacity, and on a longer term basis. The ease of using Wyzant to reach potential students is incredible. I get 4 or 5 inquiries a week.
More than Tutoring
WyzAnt has helped me continue my passion of Chinese-English bi-lingual teaching! It does not only bring me extra income and flexibility of my schedules, but also brings one of the most wonderful things to my life. That is the precious friendship with my students, as well as their parents.
WyzAnt has given me a unique opportunity to work closely with students in mathematics and science who have either not been successful in these subjects in the past or are interested in developing deeper understandings. I am impressed with the quality of the clients and have been extremely pleased by their response to the tutoring. WyzAnt is a great place for me to continue refining the practice of teaching outside of the classroom. I have really come to appreciate the importance of interactions in learning and have been fortunate to watch children grow academically as well as in their confidence and ability.
I am really enjoying my experience as a tutor for WyzAnt. They have a very easy-to-navigate website, and a straight-forward payment system (for both tutors and clients). Any time that I have needed to contact the company (which has not been much!), I have gotten a REAL response email, not one of those automated impersonal unhelpful responses. My students appreciate the flexibility of my schedule, and that the tutoring can happen right in their own home where they are most comfortable.

Positive Experience
I have been with Wyzant for a few weeks, and it has been a very positive experience. Getting my first students took about three weeks, but I found with determination and continued responses to e-mails I was able to pick up four students in one week. The fourth student declined after the first session because he was unwilling to do the work required to get the wanted grade. This was much to the consternation of the parents; but you can't force someone to learn. Since then I have picked up one more student, which is about all I can handle right now. I have seen the students, and especially parents, really appreciate the effort to help their children improve and once a student/teacher rapport is developed it turns out to be a lot of fun for both parties. The important things are be flexible in your teaching style, be adaptable to the students/parents desires and KNOW YOUR SUBJECTS. Few things will turn off a student faster than trying to talk around a topic the tutor is not thoroughly familiar with. The only recommendation I would have is to make the subject tests longer with more questions from a master question file and put a time limit on the test. This would allow tutors to retake tests later without seeing the same questions again and ensure more thorough topic mastery.
My experience with you has been awesome. The format is totally worry-free. I don't have to worry about handling money with clients. I love the fact that I can choose the areas and tutor in public libraries. I am truly glad I happened upon your web-site when I did.

Best agency on the market
Wyzant is definitely the best agency offering tutoring services in this increasingly competitive market. As a professional private teacher/tutor, I have been working with Wyzant and several other agencies over many years now, and greatly appreciate its system. Wyzant has by far the best customer service, the most helpful and user-friendly technical approach, and the most convenient fee & ratings system, which is sure to attract the most competitive tutors (other agencies tend to set the fees for tutors, while Wyzant allows its tutors the freedom to set their own terms as real independent contractors). Even though I receive offers constantly from other agencies, I give priority only to Wyzant. Moreover, I've sometimes suggested my students to benefit from promotions I offer on Wyzant; and I refer only Wyzant to students who call me about subjects I don't teach, simply because the terms are superior on Wyzant. Students can pay by credit card, which is of great help to private tutors as this allows tutors to focus on teaching rather than accounting matters. I have also referred Wyzant to a couple of foreign friends skilled in languages and teaching who could therefore start their careers in the U.S.A. working as private tutors through Wyzant.
Great website makes finding students easy!
It took a bit of time and effort to build up my profile but once you are established your tutoring will flourish. The new format for applying for tutoring jobs is excellent. I always receive responses to questions via email promptly.

Finding lots of new students
WyzAnt has worked wonders for my tutoring schedule. Within a month of putting up my tutor profile on WyzAnt, I was able to fill up my afternoons, evenings, and weekends with students. The feature that sends me a text whenever a new tutoring opportunity arises is great. I would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for students. It is more effective than any other service I have tutored for in terms of finding and bringing on board new students - fast! WyzAnt pays its tutors a generous percentage with the ability to increase that percentage by putting in a certain number of tutoring hours. I'm not sure the search by category feature works, however. Whenever I attempt to search for a specific topic, like "Spanish," the search returns zero results for requests for tutoring in that subject. My overall experience with WyzAnt is an overwhelmingly positive one. The site is user friendly for students, parents, and tutors. It is so quick and easy to connect students in need with many qualified tutors that students can usually start the same day that they request a tutor! Getting paid is also quick and easy with WyzAnt's direct deposit options. WyzAnt has done a spectacular job of putting together a tutoring site.

Great lead generation system
Since I joined WyzAnt over 2 months ago, the number of qualified leads increase every day. I really enjoyed tutoring my students and witness their improvement. One on one tutoring indeed pays off for students looking a way to really understand concepts, specially with subjects such as Math.
I joined Wyzant last October and so far, so good. Their policies are fair; the tutors' percentage is ahead of the industry; our support system is outstanding. While I have been tutoring for many years, this company shows a very effective way to meet and start teaching students with whom I would not otherwise come in contact. I've been recommending my teacher friends to join up and now with the new Wyzant Rewards System, it should be even more fun.

I must say I was a bit skeptical about signing up as a tutor with WyzAnt. I saw postings come through looking for tutors for quite a while before I decided to take the plunge. Compared to other on-line experiences, your website is quite easy to figure out. I have found that clients get used to "how the system works" quickly. The apparent ease of "how the system works" allows tutors and students to focus on learning. Really Great Arrangement
I have been tutoring on WyzAnt for nearly a year and am now well over 100 hours into the experience. The website is simple and effective and indeed so much so that I have never actually had occasion to speak to anyone at WyzAnt! Everything works online pretty much perfectly. WyzAnt certainly will give you a stream of interested students (not all of whom ultimately will sign on with you for reasons you may never find out) but you certainly don't have to waste time seeking them out. And, as most tutors here note, WyzAnt deals promptly and accurately with all the payments so that you don't even have to discuss money with the students, much less chase them for payment. The service does feel a little expensive, particularly at the start until you get your percentage raised a bit, but really you get a lot of service for the money. Overall, I am very pleased to be a WyzAnt tutor and would certainly recommend WyzAnt to anyone wanting to get into the tutoring business or who is looking for a tutor.

WyzAnt has been a really powerful influence in my life. It has allowed me to follow my passion for tutoring and the system is so easy to use. As a tutor, wyzant is great. It offers a quality website that consolidates the search for multiple subjects. So to my clients, it appears that I'm much bigger than I am. This gives me great visibility, and gives the customer more confidence since this is a 'company' instead of am individual. The billing is very convenient, and really shields both the customer and the tutor from billing concerns.
So far, my experience with WyzAnt has been quite pleasant and very beneficial, during the few short months I have been a WyzAnt tutor. The supply of prospects has been quite good. (I don't know how they promote the website, but so far it seems to be working quite effectively -- especially when compared to others on which I am listed.) Also, the percentage rate of return is quite reasonable (especially after the first 50 hours ;^), and generally better than most other similar services. The company's attitude has been quite good, so far, and the problems usually get fixed reasonably well and promptly. I also appreciate their sincere desire for feedback -- plus the fact that (unlike some others) they don't seem to be offended by complaints (or even nit-picking about exam questions). bam ("Professor BAM") P.S. Over the past few decades, I have dealt with at least ten different tutoring agencies (in addition to having worked for two major test-prep firms, and having my own private clients). I would consider WyzAnt to be one of the top two, if not the best of them all.
I have really enjoyed my time tutoring through WyzAnt over the past year and a half. I've had many opportunities to share my knowledge and abilities in various subject matters with all different ages of people, from kids to adults. I've never had a better second job!
Even as a graduate, finding a job in this economy is difficult. I've struggled since high school to maintain a lifestyle that allows me to actually enjoy life and make the money I need to pay bills. Wyzant has finally given that to me. I can now choose my schedule for a second job and enjoy spending time with my friends and family at any convenience, and not just that of my employer. I had previously worked as a Math and Physics tutor in Los Angeles before joining Wyzant. The students I tutored were primarily College and high school students. Wyzant has since plunged me into a network of students that is varied, academically challenging and yet rewarding; From the UCLA Alumni aiming at Vet School to the professional paralegal seeking a promotion; From the MBA candidate in Glendale to the Public Servant in South Gate. Working with WyzAnt has been a great experience overall. I am incredibly grateful to have found so many great English, ESL, Language Arts, Spanish, Proofreading and Test Preparation students through WyzAnt. Now, if only I could find some students in Anthropology, my college major and a subject I love tutoring, the experience would be complete! My students range from a visiting PhD. scholar at Stanford, to college and high school English, ESL, Spanish, and SAT students, to a 3rd grader in my hometown of Pacifica, and they have all been wonderful to work with. The WyzAnt website is generally easy to use and is a great tool for attracting new students. WyzAnt's office staff are friendly, very competent, and a pleasure to deal with. I have never had any 'customer service' issues with WyzAnt. It's amazing how smoothly it runs. There are only two things I'd like to see improved - the commission rate and the rewards points system. I'd like to be able to move to a higher commission rate more rapidly and would like to see the rewards points system expanded to give tutors points for high student ratings, such as I have, and for productivity. I have completed 200+ hours with WyzAnt and look forward to many more.
I have been a tutor for the last 7 years. During this period, I have experienced many ups and downs of this field. It is indeed a great experience to be part of the WyzAnt team. Here are a few key points that distinguish WyzAnt from others: 1) Their selection process ensures that only qualified tutors are on their panel, which in turn ensures quality. 2) Their way of communication is excellent. As soon as there is an interested student, it is published on web page and email is sent to the tutors in that area. If the student has sent any email to the tutor through the website, the tutor is informed via email immediately. In the email, it is clear whether WyzAnt has billing information or not. If billing information is there, we can exchange our phone number to make the communication fast. In today’s fast world, this quick communication makes a lot of difference and distinguishes WyzAnt from other websites. 3) Their method of payment is very good. I was really impressed when I received my first payment on the date specified without any reminders. It is really awesome when one gets his/her due payment. The best part is when they released the payment, I got a very prompt email stating “your payment is on the way.”. 4) Their different schemes to motivate the tutors are really excellent. It really motivates me to do better and better day-by-day. 5) Last but not least, I want to say that WyzAnt is indeed a vibrant team of tutors and coordinators. I feel proud of myself to be part of it.
My experience with students has been a very positive one. I like the fact I can choose my own hours and decide when I want to work. The payment system and entering of lessons into the system is great. I also like the fact that students can search for me and contact me if they are interested in my tutoring services. So, far the experience has been a positive one and I look forward to more lessons.

I joined WyzAnt as a tutor a few weeks ago. I took the various math (and physics) subject tests in order to be certified (easy!). Since then I have sent emails to more than a dozen prospective students, and while most of them didn't respond, a few inquired further and one has begun using me as a regular tutor. I find the site easy to navigate and very easy to use, both for looking for tutoring jobs and for keeping track of all the emails coming and going (the entire mailing procedure is designed quite well). It is also quite simple to submit my lessons and also see my earnings grow. I appreciate getting an email from WyzAnt, usually one per day, informing me of new tutoring opportunities in my area. The email serves as a reminder to go look on the site for possible students to contact. It would be helpful to know if a prospective student is not interested in my services (after I spent the time to email them) -- I certainly can't expect them to send me an email saying so -- however, if they have decided to begin using a different WyzAnt tutor, then I would at least know that they were no longer looking around. As it is now, I'm not sure when to "remove" the prospective student from my list of "current" students. Maybe the list of "current students" that I see on my profile page could differentiate between prospective students and those who are actually using me as a tutor. (Might that same list also indicate if the student has begun work with another WyzAnt tutor?) I increased my usual hourly rate somewhat to reflect the pay rate percentage (60% to start, 65% after 20 hrs. etc.), and I have been a little concerned that prospective students might be discouraged from using me as a tutor because my rate is higher than many other tutors on the site. I am struggling to balance the two competing factors -- the amount I think my time is worth vs. the minimum I would be willing to accept (in order to attract more students). Although I want to be well paid (and believe I'm worth it), in the end I so enjoy the process of teaching and mentoring young students that I am quite willing to lower my rate when requested to do so (as I have done for my first regular student). This is an ideal site for tutors to connect with prospective students. I look forward to getting more students, and the day when my pay percentage increases! Thanks.

My experiences with WyzAnt have been great. I like the way it is set up. It is easy and convenient for all people involved.
I must say, I didn't feel too confident about WyzAnt when I first signed up, but they've proven me wrong. Basically, I felt I would be lucky to find even one student, but it turned out that there are people posting for new tutors every day, and contacting them is so easy and straightforward that I actually do it! What's more, people have actually contacted me directly, which is wonderful! And they started doing that almost as soon as I signed up. I think part of the success is in having a very complete profile that says a lot about you. I imagine parents looking for a tutor want to know about you before contacting you. That's something else that I like about WyzAnt: the way the profile page is organized. Basically, it has something for everyone. For those who don't like to read too much, the basic information is there in the first part, very easy to find. But there's also lots of room to write a letter to those parents who want to know more (and, BTW, in the letter, the keywords, like the classes you teach, etc, are automatically highlighted. That's a very good idea) One other important thing I'm happy about: payment has been very prompt every single time and I have not had a single problem. I haven't tried the direct deposit yet, because I find it easier to keep track of it if I get a check, but if the checks are anything to go by, I expect the direct deposit to work perfectly too.
Excellent Overall Service
Although only registered with WyzAnt since June, 2011, I am thoroughly pleased with the overall excellence of the website (especially the automated "New Opportunities" e-mails based on one's subject areas & radius area parameters), customer service, and the option to "View New Jobs." The "View New Jobs" option is an extremely valuable feature, particularly for me since the other (2)tutoring/coaching businesses with whom I am registered do not have this feature. Even though my 1st student was a short-term contract, I made the connection (10) days after registering. For me, that was a quick & great turnaround! Of all the tutoring companies that I have worked with, WyzAnt has proven to be the most reliable in terms of student referrals and also the most rewarding as to the nature of those assignments. I have enjoyed working with all my WyzAnt students and feel that I have been successful at helping them learn Latin and Greek. Not a small matter, also, is their helpful and dependable payroll system, now made even better with their daily payment schedule.
Wyzant- As good as it gets!
I value Wyzant tremendously. They do all the marketing and advertising, enabling me to worry only about teaching. They also add a sense of legitimacy and safety for parents as they are a very reputable company. What i really appreciate this the the opportunity to teach as a result of working through Wyzant. I have found this not only a great chance to teach but work with wonderful families well. In my mind, I not only teach but in many cases mentor as well. It is very rewarding. Good tutors are really needed and Wyzant gives me a chance to really help those that need it. This is one of the most rewarding things I do professionally and have many success stories to prove it. My only request would be to find a way that parents can tutors call before having to register as I have lost a number of teaching opportunities because parents were wary of disseminating personal information first in order to call a tutor. I understand the reasons for the policy, but there must be a way to talk to potential customers before they are asked to register. It would help a great deal. Overall, I have rediscovered my teaching career through Wyzant and would recommend them to anyone. A totally positive experience!
Since I signed up with WyzAnt, I have received quite a few tutoring inquiries. I am currently still working with one of these students, which is an excellent experience indeed! It has definitely been a very positive experience and I'm so happy that I am one of the WyzAnt tutors! This company is of high quality and very professional.
Couldn't Do It Without WyzAnt
I have been tutoring for WyzAnt for two years now, and it's been a wonderful experience. I have built up a business that could not have happened without WyzAnt's online presence and advertising. The student ratings convince potential students to give me a try, and the credentialling and background checks reassure parents who feel intimidated by the process of choosing a tutor for their child. I have students in approximately ten different towns in my area, and this kind of exposure would be difficult to achieve if I were advertising on my own. This is a great service, and I fully intend to continue as a WyzAnt tutor!

My experience with Wyzant has been very positive. This has been the only venue through which I have been able to find students to tutor. Also, Wyzant's customer service has been outstanding. Simple and Slick
Just recently I had my first tutoring job and I must admit that I was skeptical of the whole system when I first heard about it through another tutor in the system. Once I did the sessions and submitted the lessons, I was surprised to find that the structure of billing and finding lessons was so easy! I really love the flexibility and simplicity that WyzAnt offers without compromising the validity of the tutor! The structure is so simple anyone can do it and the layout is so professional that it gives each tutor an edge!
