I am very impressed with the professionalism that WyzAnt provides to not only their tutors, but also to their students. WyzAnt offers a first class tutoring service that is recognized in our community.
I was apprehensive the first time I went to tutor for a WyzAnt student. Would it be a good experience? Would the student want to learn? Would the parents be clear with their expectations? It was a GREAT experience. Through email and phone calls everything was set up before I went for the first session. I have had a lot of fun watching my student improve her reading and phonics skills. When parents and students contact WyzAnt, they want the student to learn. The students are not looking for the easy way out. They actively participate in the learning process. This has been an easy and effective way to find students to help. I am trying to get the word out for parents/students to contact WyzAnt since there are many excellent tutors listed on the site. I would also like for other tutors to realize this company is easy to work with and have taken the money detail out of tutoring. You just show up and tutor. WyzAnt makes sure the clients have paid, and therefore you will get paid. Thanks WyzAnt for a good experience and I hope to work with more students found through WyzAnt.
I have greatly enjoyed my experience and learned while tutoring with WyzAnt. The students have been tremendous and my range of subjects has increased over time, thus improving my marketability. Some of the students have been located very close to my house (< four miles) improving my daily productivity. The customer service/technical service people at WyzAnt do a tremendous job of addressing specific issues in a timely fashion. The flexibility of the system has been very helpful.
Very happy with this service
I have tried other tutoring companies before, as well as, have used a tutoring company in the past once to prepare for a final exam. After using a tutor myself and paying for two hours of absolutely no help at all, I always make sure that my clients will never feel that way. This company is the most user friendly tutoring service I have found yet. I am surprised how many students I was able to find, and how many actually contacted me. Great work!
Great service
Working with WyzAnt has been an overwhelmingly positive experience for me. I tried making it on my own as a tutor for a while, but was never able to build up a stable clientele. WyzAnt takes care of all the behind the scenes work, allowing me to focus on what I do best. They really earn their keep. I just recently passed the 400+ hour mark with them and couldn't be happier. Whenever I have had issues or questions, they have always been quick to respond and quick to resolve them to my satisfaction. I can't even begin to describe how elated I am to be a part of the Wyzant Community. To be honest with you, I simply stumbled onto the website one day, and I thought, "Hey, I'm a good teacher and I just want to help others." Wyzant provides the perfect vehicle for exactly that. I've wanted to be a tutor for a long time, but I didn't know how to get involved. Wyzant is perfect for those who want to help others without having to do the legwork to find students. The process was simple, just fill out the information that you should know by heart anyways. Within a few days you're set to go. The certifiable tests are great as well, they test your overall knowledge of the subject without requiring you to be perfect. I believe that WyzAnt does a terrific job of connecting people that need tutoring with the appropriate tutors. The tutors' self-descriptions create a level of comfort for the student or student's family. This is essential in this day and age. I have taught corporate level classes in creating a harassment-free work environment and I know that people need to be cautious about who they allow into their homes, around their children, and around themselves. I have gotten the most wonderful students, and am thankful for the opportunity to help them become the star students they were born to be!
WyzAnt is great for so many reasons! One is because students can email me directly any lesson question(s). They also send me helpful emails when a Spanish or French tutor is needed. I also like not having to deal with checks or credit cards. Direct deposit is so easy and WyzAnt enables me to concentrate just on the teaching part, not the when and how I'll get paid part. They are also supportive (I learned this last year when a student decided to cancel an hour before a lesson, so they value my time). Lastly, I've been able to teach and really help more than 5 great students in my neighborhood this past year, thanks to WyzAnt. I highly recommend WyzAnt to any current teacher who wants to tutor with a supportive organization, and get paid at a rate per hour that is appropriate. With a MA degree in learning styles, I felt underpaid from other tutoring companies before I found WyzAnt. I love how WyzAnt allows the tutor to decide the hourly rate.
Finding Students
This has, for the most part, been a positive experience. I like working for this company. Listing are prompt and useful. Sometimes a little disappointing finding more students. But all in all a great company to work for. Looking forward to working here for quite a while.
Great Service
Wyzant works great because the scheduling is set by me. However, initially the pay percent is very low unless we set a high price for tutoring in which case the number of students approacing us is minimized.
All potential so far
I have only been aboard about a week and have only found potential jobs. I've emailed close to ten opportunities, 3 have replied and of those, one seems interested when the semester begins in September. In the last half of August, there are virtually no current classes in session, so I can't expect as much. I'm anxious to see how things pick up once school is back in session. I'm very comfortable with the layout and functioning of the site. I can easily find opportunities and respond to them.
It was very easy to sign up as a new tutor. My Profile page is very attractive. The Marketing Materials that you offer are excellent. It was less than a week before I received my first client. I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT BEING A WYZANT TUTOR!
Great Opportunities to render Service
I have had the opportunity to utilize my skills as a means providing a needed service, with the overall intent of giving back to others, because knowledge gained is something that one will take with himself or herself, and no one can take it away. WyzAnt has provided me with an excellent platform, with modern day technology, to do this and I encourage others to utilize WyzAnt's features with the ultimate intent providing a real service by enhancing our society.
WyzAnt has live people to talk to, should you call in about an issue! That's been very helpful to me as a fairly new tutor, when I had a few topics in dealing with students that seemed to fall outside the the FAQ set of answers, or frankly I thought the topic wouldn't be covered and so I didn't look there. The several reps answering the phone are very easy to talk to, easily understand the issues I've raised, and come up with practical solutions.

My tutoring experience with Wyzant has been seamless and better organized than I could have accomplish without the organization's help. Despite having run a language school myself for nearly 5 years, I have found that working freelance has many pitfalls including enforcing cancellation policies, keeping track of billing, and payment information for taxes at end of year. Working with Wyzant allows me to accept credit cards, basically, and be assured that payment will be forthcoming on a regular schedule. In addition, the communication between student and tutor is greatly enhanced by the online session reports which also help me to keep track of what my student and I have done together. Finally, the staff at Wyzant is intelligent, helpful and responsive. I have recommended other teachers to Wyzant with the knowledge that their experience will undoubtedly be as consistently good quality as my own has been. Many thanks!
The website is good
The website is easy to use. The payments are made in a timely fashion. The two tutoring jobs I've had so far have been quality clients and we have worked well together. I think the payment plans deter many potential tutoring jobs.
Excellent for Tutors and Students
I started with WyzAnt 13 months ago and they have provided me with many tutoring opportunities. Based on over 600 hours of tutoring through WyzAnt, I strongly recommend WyzAnt to anyone interested in tutoring and to anyone in need of a tutor. For tutors, they have excellent marketing and administrative skills. They handle all the billing and allow you to focus more on tutoring. For students, they certify tutors, provide student feedback on the tutors, display background information on tutors and courses, safely and reliably handle billing, etc. WyzAnt is an excellent alternative for both tutors and students.
How to Make Uploading Videos Easy For Your Tutors
You've done a good jobs mapping out most of the information tutors need. But when it comes to uploading videos the site needs to be improved. This is what you need to tell your tutors: -The video file formats accepted: (i.e. .AVI,.MPEG4,.WMV .FLV ) -The size it must be under: 100MB (BEFORE THEY LOAD THE VIDEO- not at the moment they load the video) - How to compress their videos if needed: Open and resave in Windows Live Movie Maker, use http://www.youconvertit.com , etc. Telling your tutors that the rules for YouTube apply is not helpful. Especially since YouTube accepts a larger file size than Wyzant.

Wyzant has been an excellent resource to reach more students. I have been able to help students in both a short-term capacity, and on a longer term basis. The ease of using Wyzant to reach potential students is incredible. I get 4 or 5 inquiries a week.
More than Tutoring
WyzAnt has helped me continue my passion of Chinese-English bi-lingual teaching! It does not only bring me extra income and flexibility of my schedules, but also brings one of the most wonderful things to my life. That is the precious friendship with my students, as well as their parents.
WyzAnt has given me a unique opportunity to work closely with students in mathematics and science who have either not been successful in these subjects in the past or are interested in developing deeper understandings. I am impressed with the quality of the clients and have been extremely pleased by their response to the tutoring. WyzAnt is a great place for me to continue refining the practice of teaching outside of the classroom. I am really enjoying my experience as a tutor for WyzAnt. They have a very easy-to-navigate website, and a straight-forward payment system (for both tutors and clients). Any time that I have needed to contact the company (which has not been much!), I have gotten a REAL response email, not one of those automated impersonal unhelpful responses. My students appreciate the flexibility of my schedule, and that the tutoring can happen right in their own home where they are most comfortable.

Positive Experience
I have been with Wyzant for a few weeks, and it has been a very positive experience. Getting my first students took about three weeks, but I found with determination and continued responses to e-mails I was able to pick up four students in one week. The fourth student declined after the first session because he was unwilling to do the work required to get the wanted grade. This was much to the consternation of the parents; but you can't force someone to learn. Since then I have picked up one more student, which is about all I can handle right now. I have seen the students, and especially parents, really appreciate the effort to help their children improve and once a student/teacher rapport is developed it turns out to be a lot of fun for both parties. The important things are be flexible in your teaching style, be adaptable to the students/parents desires and KNOW YOUR SUBJECTS. Few things will turn off a student faster than trying to talk around a topic the tutor is not thoroughly familiar with. The only recommendation I would have is to make the subject tests longer with more questions from a master question file and put a time limit on the test. This would allow tutors to retake tests later without seeing the same questions again and ensure more thorough topic mastery.
My experience with you has been awesome. The format is totally worry-free. I don't have to worry about handling money with clients. I love the fact that I can choose the areas and tutor in public libraries. I am truly glad I happened upon your web-site when I did.

Best agency on the market
Wyzant is definitely the best agency offering tutoring services in this increasingly competitive market. As a professional private teacher/tutor, I have been working with Wyzant and several other agencies over many years now, and greatly appreciate its system. Wyzant has by far the best customer service, the most helpful and user-friendly technical approach, and the most convenient fee & ratings system, which is sure to attract the most competitive tutors (other agencies tend to set the fees for tutors, while Wyzant allows its tutors the freedom to set their own terms as real independent contractors). Even though I receive offers constantly from other agencies, I give priority only to Wyzant. Moreover, I've sometimes suggested my students to benefit from promotions I offer on Wyzant; and I refer only Wyzant to students who call me about subjects I don't teach, simply because the terms are superior on Wyzant. Students can pay by credit card, which is of great help to private tutors as this allows tutors to focus on teaching rather than accounting matters. I have also referred Wyzant to a couple of foreign friends skilled in languages and teaching who could therefore start their careers in the U.S.A. working as private tutors through Wyzant.

It took a bit of time and effort to build up my profile but once you are established your tutoring will flourish. The new format for applying for tutoring jobs is excellent. I always receive responses to questions via email promptly.
Easy to find work!
Wyzant has made it super easy for me to setup tutoring sessions on the side. I currently teach middle and high school mathematics, so I am always looking for ways to make extra cash. With my schedule and my background, tutoring offers me the flexibility to do what I love doing. Finding lots of new students
WyzAnt has worked wonders for my tutoring schedule. Within a month of putting up my tutor profile on WyzAnt, I was able to fill up my afternoons, evenings, and weekends with students. The feature that sends me a text whenever a new tutoring opportunity arises is great. I would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for students. It is more effective than any other service I have tutored for in terms of finding and bringing on board new students - fast! WyzAnt pays its tutors a generous percentage with the ability to increase that percentage by putting in a certain number of tutoring hours. I'm not sure the search by category feature works, however. Whenever I attempt to search for a specific topic, like "Spanish," the search returns zero results for requests for tutoring in that subject. My overall experience with WyzAnt is an overwhelmingly positive one. The site is user friendly for students, parents, and tutors. It is so quick and easy to connect students in need with many qualified tutors that students can usually start the same day that they request a tutor! Getting paid is also quick and easy with WyzAnt's direct deposit options. WyzAnt has done a spectacular job of putting together a tutoring site.

Tutoring has brought new meaning to my life. There is nothing in the world nicer than watching your students' "light bulbs" turning on, when you explain a concept that appeared difficult or confusing that all of a sudden starts making sense. Great lead generation system
Since I joined WyzAnt over 2 months ago, the number of qualified leads increase every day. I really enjoyed tutoring my students and witness their improvement. One on one tutoring indeed pays off for students looking a way to really understand concepts, specially with subjects such as Math.
I joined Wyzant last October and so far, so good. Their policies are fair; the tutors' percentage is ahead of the industry; our support system is outstanding. While I have been tutoring for many years, this company shows a very effective way to meet and start teaching students with whom I would not otherwise come in contact. I've been recommending my teacher friends to join up and now with the new Wyzant Rewards System, it should be even more fun.
Unbelieveably User Friendly and Efficient Website
I must say I was a bit skeptical about signing up as a tutor with WyzAnt. I saw postings come through looking for tutors for quite a while before I decided to take the plunge. Compared to other on-line experiences, your website is quite easy to figure out. I have found that clients get used to "how the system works" quickly. The apparent ease of "how the system works" allows tutors and students to focus on learning. Really Great Arrangement
I have been tutoring on WyzAnt for nearly a year and am now well over 100 hours into the experience. The website is simple and effective and indeed so much so that I have never actually had occasion to speak to anyone at WyzAnt! Everything works online pretty much perfectly. WyzAnt certainly will give you a stream of interested students (not all of whom ultimately will sign on with you for reasons you may never find out) but you certainly don't have to waste time seeking them out. And, as most tutors here note, WyzAnt deals promptly and accurately with all the payments so that you don't even have to discuss money with the students, much less chase them for payment. The service does feel a little expensive, particularly at the start until you get your percentage raised a bit, but really you get a lot of service for the money. Overall, I am very pleased to be a WyzAnt tutor and would certainly recommend WyzAnt to anyone wanting to get into the tutoring business or who is looking for a tutor.

As a tutor, wyzant is great. It offers a quality website that consolidates the search for multiple subjects. So to my clients, it appears that I'm much bigger than I am. This gives me great visibility, and gives the customer more confidence since this is a 'company' instead of am individual. The billing is very convenient, and really shields both the customer and the tutor from billing concerns.
So far, my experience with WyzAnt has been quite pleasant and very beneficial, during the few short months I have been a WyzAnt tutor. The supply of prospects has been quite good. (I don't know how they promote the website, but so far it seems to be working quite effectively -- especially when compared to others on which I am listed.) Also, the percentage rate of return is quite reasonable (especially after the first 50 hours ;^), and generally better than most other similar services. The company's attitude has been quite good, so far, and the problems usually get fixed reasonably well and promptly. I also appreciate their sincere desire for feedback -- plus the fact that (unlike some others) they don't seem to be offended by complaints (or even nit-picking about exam questions). bam ("Professor BAM") P.S. Over the past few decades, I have dealt with at least ten different tutoring agencies (in addition to having worked for two major test-prep firms, and having my own private clients). I would consider WyzAnt to be one of the top two, if not the best of them all.
I have really enjoyed my time tutoring through WyzAnt over the past year and a half. I've had many opportunities to share my knowledge and abilities in various subject matters with all different ages of people, from kids to adults. It is so much fun to watch people learn and grow week after week or have a one-time session where they are determined to master something quickly. And on top of all that, Wyzant's keeps a relatively small percentage of any fees earned by me. And even better that percentage shrinks over time as I complete more lessons.
