Bookkeeping is easy
The best part about being involved with Wyzant is that all I have to do is enter my hours after I tutor and Wyzant does the collection and sends me payment. One of the worst things about tutoring is collecting for lessons. A tutor has his or her head on creatively presenting the material. It is an entirely different part of the brain, apparently, that focuses on charging for a lesson and collecting money. I don't want to negotiate a fee, keep track of amounts owed, play the tough guy, or accept payment. Wyzant allows me to stay fully in the role of helpful teacher. Thanks.
Excellent Overall Service
Although only registered with WyzAnt since June, 2011, I am thoroughly pleased with the overall excellence of the website (especially the automated "New Opportunities" e-mails based on one's subject areas & radius area parameters), customer service, and the option to "View New Jobs." The "View New Jobs" option is an extremely valuable feature, particularly for me since the other (2)tutoring/coaching businesses with whom I am registered do not have this feature. Even though my 1st student was a short-term contract, I made the connection (10) days after registering. For me, that was a quick & great turnaround! I look forward to a long-term & successful experience with WyzAnt. :o)
Of all the tutoring companies that I have worked with, WyzAnt has proven to be the most reliable in terms of student referrals and also the most rewarding as to the nature of those assignments. I have enjoyed working with all my WyzAnt students and feel that I have been successful at helping them learn Latin and Greek. Not a small matter, also, is their helpful and dependable payroll system, now made even better with their daily payment schedule.
I would just like to summarize how the opportunity to tutor a student one on one can significantly make a difference not only in learning basic skills, but making a significant difference in the student's attitude toward learning. John (not real name) has had a difficult year. He has had some learning issues and requires more attention than can be given in a regular classroom. The attention goes beyond basic skills, but really centers on positive reinforcement, immediate success, encouragement, and establishing confidence. These are all things we talk about in education, but by tutoring for WyzAnt, I have seen how powerful it can be in a one to one setting. John told me he doesn't have a good outlook for the remainder of the year. His teachers have more or less conceded, at least in his mind, that this year will not be a success. I have found in most of our one on one sessions, we have talked more about and modeled learning from mistakes, building on success in small parts, and constantly reinforcing good effort. What I have seen happen is that John feels more confident about what he is doing and focuses less on what he can't do. The specific curriculum gives him a better chance of success and that success is leading to more success. Our high point came during our last session. John had a smile on his face as he was getting his spelling correct, answering questions, and not afraid when something was not correct. It was such a dramatic change in such a short time! It was simply the consistent opportunity to get one on one attention and focus on the positive. At the end of the last lesson, he said "This is really cool" and shook my hand. It's not that anyone really was "cool", just that this program can help people who really need it, not only with the subject matter but with building self-esteem and an interest in learning as well.
Since I signed up with WyzAnt, I have received quite a few tutoring inquiries. I am currently still working with one of these students, which is an excellent experience indeed! It has definitely been a very positive experience and I'm so happy that I am one of the WyzAnt tutors! This company is of high quality and very professional.
I have found the WyzAnt website very easy to navigate! Being a beginning member, I appreciate the rapid response time from the WyzAnt team. Although this time of year is slow, I have not gained any students yet. However, through utilizing the various marketing ideas, I feel confident that I will soon gain students. Thank you WyzAnt! Really Great Arrangement
I have been tutoring on WyzAnt for nearly a year and am now well over 100 hours into the experience. The website is simple and effective and indeed so much so that I have never actually had occasion to speak to anyone at WyzAnt! Everything works online pretty much perfectly. WyzAnt certainly will give you a stream of interested students (not all of whom ultimately will sign on with you for reasons you may never find out) but you certainly don't have to waste time seeking them out. And, as most tutors here note, WyzAnt deals promptly and accurately with all the payments so that you don't even have to discuss money with the students, much less chase them for payment. The service does feel a little expensive, particularly at the start until you get your percentage raised a bit, but really you get a lot of service for the money. Overall, I am very pleased to be a WyzAnt tutor and would certainly recommend WyzAnt to anyone wanting to get into the tutoring business or who is looking for a tutor.
Finally - A Rewarding Work Experience!
WyzAnt has been a really powerful influence in my life. It has allowed me to follow my passion for tutoring and the system is so easy to use. I think prospective students find it very professional and informative and the process has been very simple and has worked perfectly. WyzAnt's division of subjects makes it easy for both students and tutors to meet their objectives and the guided communication process protects everyone. The reports of statistics and helpful ideas have been great and the system is making me think about quitting the corporate world and doing this full time!
WyzAnt has been a great referral tool for my tutoring business. It is easy to find students and WyzAnt sends me an email and a text message every time that a potential student requests a tutor. Their pay is always accurate and on time and the technical team quickly responds to questions. I highly recommend tutoring through WyzAnt.

Wyzant is a great opportunity for college students to supplement their income. The website is very user friendly and simple for even the most inexperienced of tutors.
As a tutor, wyzant is great. It offers a quality website that consolidates the search for multiple subjects. So to my clients, it appears that I'm much bigger than I am. This gives me great visibility, and gives the customer more confidence since this is a 'company' instead of am individual. The billing is very convenient, and really shields both the customer and the tutor from billing concerns.
So far, my experience with WyzAnt has been quite pleasant and very beneficial, during the few short months I have been a WyzAnt tutor. The supply of prospects has been quite good. (I don't know how they promote the website, but so far it seems to be working quite effectively -- especially when compared to others on which I am listed.) Also, the percentage rate of return is quite reasonable (especially after the first 50 hours ;^), and generally better than most other similar services. The company's attitude has been quite good, so far, and the problems usually get fixed reasonably well and promptly. I also appreciate their sincere desire for feedback -- plus the fact that (unlike some others) they don't seem to be offended by complaints (or even nit-picking about exam questions). bam ("Professor BAM") P.S. Over the past few decades, I have dealt with at least ten different tutoring agencies (in addition to having worked for two major test-prep firms, and having my own private clients). I would consider WyzAnt to be one of the top two, if not the best of them all.
I have really enjoyed my time tutoring through WyzAnt over the past year and a half. I've had many opportunities to share my knowledge and abilities in various subject matters with all different ages of people, from kids to adults. It is so much fun to watch people learn and grow week after week or have a one-time session where they are determined to master something quickly. Plus you can't beat the safety and reliability that WyzAnt offers. It's comforting to know that you don't have to worry about not getting paid and there's a certain amount of security. I hope to have many more great students in my future!

While looking for additional source of income, I decided to look for more tutoring opportunities. As I had stopped tutoring for two years, I figured I could find a company to work for that would take care of most, if not all of the things that I found tedious. Doing a Google search, Wyzant caught my eye. <br /> <br /> I took the two hours I needed to sign up as a tutor. I took all the qualifying exams, wrote the necessary qualifying essays, and created my WyzAntProfile. And I sat back and waited for the clients to come in - even though Wyzant warned me that it may take time. Time it did take. It was two months before I had my first client through them. The information is always accurate and we receive information, payment, new prospects in a timely manner. The marketing is excellent: on any given day I can Google for tutor in Bolingbrook, IL and I am listed in the top five results. And on top of all that, Wyzant's keeps a relatively small percentage of any fees earned by me. And even better that percentage shrinks over time as I complete more lessons. Oh, and they just introduced direct deposit! <br /> <br /> Overall my experience with Wyzant has been positive. I would recommend any tutor to at least take the time to try working with Wyzant and see if they make a good fit. I don't think you would regret it. <br />
