A lot of studying. I was a finance major fresh out of college when I took the exam. I spent about one month doing nothing but studying for roughly 6-8 hours a day. One of the most difficult parts of the exam is the fact that it covers such a wide range of topics and goes fairly in depth into most if not all of them. Ultimately, anything can be accomplished with practice and repetition. Taking practice exams and finding weak areas is helpful in reinforcing difficult concepts/topics, but ultimately it comes down to how much effort and time you put into it.
