On the way back to station A, the train travels 60 miles per hour. What is the distance from station A to station B if the round trip took 16 hours? Round to the nearest mile.

distance = rate x time

 

distance = 35 * (16-t) = 60 t

 

                 560 - 35t = 60t

 

                  560 = 95t

 

          t = 560/95 = 5 hours 53 min  41 sec <---- this is the time on the return trip returning to station A.

 

        The time going to station B is   10 hour 6 min 19 sec

 

      The distance is [16 -(560/95)]*35 = 354 miles rounded to the nearest mile
