Stuck On This Physics Problem

An ion accelerated through a potential difference of 60.00 V has its potential energy decreased by potential energy of 1.92*10^-17 J. Calculate the charge on the ion.

 

I got 3.2*10^-19 as my answer but it is incorrect

ΔU = qΔV = -1.92 x 10^-17 J

 

ΔV = 60.00 volts

 

q = ΔU/ΔV = (-1.92 x 10^-17)/(60.00) C = -3.2 x 10^-19 C

 

Allen is correct about the negative sign.

ΔU = qΔV

Because the energy decreased, ΔU is negative so, your charge should be negative too, I think.
