Im not very good with word problems and am having trouble learning how to solve these

Let x = width and x+4 = length

 

Then x(x+4) = 672

 

So, x² + 4x - 672 = 0

 

     (x-24)(x+28) = 0    x = 24 or x = -28

 

Since x can't be negative, x = width = 24 cm

 

                                      x+4 = length = 28 cm
