The peremiter of a pool table is 30 ft. The table is twice as long as it is wide. What is the length of the pool table?

Christy, how do we find perimeter? 2l + 2w, right? If the length is twice the width, then l = 2w, right?

 

So, we can substitute...

 

2l + l = 30

3l = 30

l = 10

 

Or...

 

2(2w) + 2w = 30

6w = 30

w = 5

 

If w = 5, then l = 10.
