ACT Math

ACT Math

During my elementary school years, I was bored with the school curriculum and advanced beyond the standards by up to three years. Since high school, I was tutoring other students in their algebra, geometry, and calculus courses. I am also flexible in starting from the bare foundations from setting up a number line to looking at how to find slopes on a graph. My approach focuses on providing students a concrete, visual approach to understanding otherwise dense, abstract math concepts. Specifically, I meet students where they are and help them to achieve new knowledge by scaffolding their current knowledge towards their course content goals.
ACT Science

ACT Science

I have 5+ years of experience teaching K-12 science as well as undergraduate chemistry (general, organic, inorganic - including labs). I have also tutored algebra, calculus, physics, and materials science. In addition, I have taught a full year of college chemistry online during remote learning, so I am familiar with effective online education.

Career Development

I have helped my students write successful college applications to the University of California system, with > 90% acceptance rate to UCLA. While working in college, I have also helped students achieve research opportunities and helped them strengthen their cover letters, resumes, and interviews to land internships and positions at their dream companies. Additionally, my letters of recommendation have netted students opportunities including but not limited to hospital internships, National Science Foundation research opportunities, and a UC LEADS scholarship.

Microsoft Windows

I have used Microsoft Windows since I was a child, and I can navigate the computer with minimal use of the mouse. Because of this, tasks that would normally take someone an hour may take me 30 minutes or less. I take advantage of keyboard shortcuts, and I hope to translate these skills to those whom I tutor. I have extensive experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Physics / AP Physics - my kids now love the subject

Winn has been working with my 9th grader and 11th grader, tutoring physics and AP physics for about a month now. He is a thorough and thoughtful tutor. My kids have two different courses - one taught in a traditional manner and another in a non-traditional way. Additionally, my kids have completely different learning styles. One is an athlete who is quiet when it comes to learning, so information needs to be drawn out. The other is curious and hungry to learn, which often sends the mind in many directions. He is able to work well with them both. This is evidenced in their class performance. Our home has less stress around quizzes and test-taking. Grades have improved by at least 1/2 letter grade. Both kids are receiving A's in their coursework. More importantly to me, both really seem to enjoy science now. One is considering becoming a science teacher, all thanks to Winn.

Knowlegeable and Patient Tutor

Winn was great helping my daughter study for her High School Chemistry Final exam. He showed her a new way to balance equations. He was patient and nice with her. He also sent her a link for her to study after the session ended which was very nice of him.

Very professional and knowledgeable

My 17 year old only met him only once and I was already impressed with Wynn. He is a great communicator. As a parent this is extremely important. He follows through in a timely manner. My son really liked his first session with him. He told me that Wynn would not give him the answers to problems but provided clues so that he could come up with correct answers. I hope we continue to be happy with Wynn.

He was Awesome

I’ve a few sessions with Winn and each of them have been amazing. He is quick to help but leads you to solve the problem on your own instead of doing it for you. He is also very good at working out problems that are not in his expertise and is able to solve the problem with you. I look forward to working with him in the future!

Amazing Ochem Tutor

I'm a student at UC Berkeley and after having trouble trying to grasp many of the concepts of Ochem 2(chem 3b at berkeley) by myself I decided to reach out for tutoring help. Winn was such a responsive and amazing tutor! He was always welcome to help and even would try to solve problems we couldn't figure out during the session during his free time. He was patient and walked me through many of the problems I came up with and made me feel thoroughly prepared for the all the exams I had to take. I was so worried I was going to fail the class but with his help I was ready for any question my professors gave me!
