Laughter, experience and respect are the best way to teach a child, young adult or an adult.
I have been blessed in my life to teach special children all the way up to adults. It is funny how the most challenging students were adults. I teach each person to their ability, because brains are like flowers...they can all be the same size, and shape, but each one is a little different. Laughter and respect have to be at the top of teaching. So many students do not know how to study properly, get frustrated and give up.
I have fifteen years experience in teaching elementary, special needs, middle school, high school and the last 5 years I have been teaching Anatomy and Physiology at a college in Oklahoma. I truly enjoy watching students grasp the understanding of a new subject and seeing that "light bulb" go off. I have worked in the medical field as a Medical Assistant too. Most people tell me I have the best of both worlds; the ability to take care of the sick and teach the ones who are struggling. I thank God and my parents for giving me that amazing ability.
I study and read as much as each of my students because no one was born "intelligent", working hard and paying attention gets us to that point. When I was young I had a teacher who couldn't teach to "non intelligent" students and I was that student who got frustrated and embarrassed because I wasn't the number one student in class.
Ever since I started teaching and tutoring I have had the philosophy, "teaching is like building a house... you have to have a strong foundation to build the house and every student has to have that same foundation in any subject they learn." It puts more work on the teacher, but a student who wants to learn will love to laugh. Laughing is what makes the world go round. Laughter, experience and respect are the best way to teach a child, young adult or an adult.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The last 5 years I have been teaching pharmacology to nursing students, and medical assistant students. While at Platt college, I taught students how covert kilograms, grams, drams, ounces, and pounds. Liquids to solids and how to calculate medication.
