Hi, I'm Qasim. I hold a Master's degree in Physics and have spent the last three-plus years tutoring math online via Zoom, working with more than 200 students across elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Hi, I'm Qasim. I hold a Master's degree in Physics and have spent the last three-plus years tutoring math online via Zoom, working with more than 200 students across elementary, middle school, and high school levels. My core focus is foundational and intermediate math — arithmetic, fractions and decimals, ratios and proportions, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, and the geometry concepts that appear from 6th grade onward. I also work with older students on pre-calculus, introductory calculus, and SAT and ACT math preparation, where the challenge is less about new content and more about pacing, problem recognition, and avoiding the traps the test is built around.

Whether a student is two grade levels behind, keeping up but losing confidence, or pushing ahead of their class, I tailor each session to where they actually are rather than where the syllabus assumes they should be.

My approach is diagnostic before it is instructional. A student who is struggling in 7th grade math rarely has a 7th grade problem — they usually have a 4th or 5th grade gap that was never filled, and every new topic is sitting on unstable ground. The same principle applies further up: students who lose points on SAT algebra questions almost always have a specific weak spot (exponent rules, systems of equations, function notation) that a few targeted sessions can resolve.

I identify the gap first, then rebuild forward in small, visible steps so the student can feel themselves improving. I use concrete examples — money, measurement, sports statistics, real test items — to keep the math grounded, and I assign focused practice between sessions so progress holds. Parents receive a clear summary after each session covering what we worked on, what is improving, and what to watch for at home.

If you are looking for a patient, structured tutor who treats math as a problem to be diagnosed rather than a subject to be drilled, I would be glad to help.
