I am a certified high school English teacher with experience teaching English Language Arts, AP English Language, and college-level English. I enjoy helping my students become stronger, more confident readers and writers while making challenging material easier to understand. As a classroom teacher, I work with students with a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and academic needs. I believe tutoring should be personalized to the individual student. I take the time to understand where a student is struggling and then explain concepts in a way that makes sense to them. I can help with things like essay writing (including thesis statements), different types of analysis, reading comprehension, grammar, AP Lang, ENG 101, SAT prep, and organization.
As a current classroom teacher, I understand the expectations students face in today's English classrooms. I know how to identify common areas of difficulty, explain concepts in multiple ways, and adjust instruction when something isn't working. I also understand that many students know what they want to say but struggle with putting their ideas into words. My goal is to help students develop their own voice while giving them the tools to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, respected, and comfortable making mistakes as they learn. I look forward to helping students become more confident, capable, and independent readers and writers.
