I'm a certified special education teacher with a master's degree in advanced special education and 15 years experience, including 12 years in my current role. I currently teach k-2 students and have experience working with learners from kindergarten through adult English.
I was honored to be selected as my school's Teacher of the Year 2024-2025, and have extensive experience supporting students with reading, math, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I specialize in individualized structured lessons tailored to each student's needs, using research-based strategies like Orton-Gillingham.
In my classroom and intervention work, I have helped struggling readers improve in phonics, fluency, and comprehension using structured, research-based strategies including Orton-Gillingham based instruction. Programs I have used include IMSE, Wilson, Fundations, and UFLI. I regularly design and implement small-group and one-on-one interventions, breaking skills into manageable steps to support student growth and confidence.
I have experience in progress monitoring student performance, adjusting instruction based on data, and collaborating with families to support learning at home. My approach focuses on building both academic skills and confidence so students can become more independent and successful learners.
I also communicate regularly with parents about progress and next steps, so everyone feels supported and informed. Every student is different, and I make sure each lesson meets them exactly where they are.
