I attended Berea College, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I have taught at schools in WV and KY. I have 25 years of teaching experience in grades Prek-3. I was a director at a large daycare and developed curriculum for our toddler, preschool, and after school programs. My graduate studies have focused on literacy techniques and early childhood development.
I have spent the last 12 summers as a site supervisor for a summer literacy program for students in grades first-six. I am currently teaching kindergarten. I love my job and enjoy watching students brighten as the understand key concepts and make progress. I love helping children learn to read and explore the world of books.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified teacher in WV. I have received over 15 hours of staff development in Common Core. I use it daily in current lesson plans. I teach kindergarten and follow mandatory curriculum based on Common Core standards.
