About Scott

After three satisfying careers (software engineer, public interest lawyer, and educational publisher), I "semi-retired" to a small farm in the mountains. I am happy with my sheep and chickens, but I still want to share my love of law and logic with the next generation. That's why I write a blog and tutor just one subject: the LSAT.

Lots of tutors teach lots of subjects. I don't. Although I have written textbooks on philosophy and history, and have taught college classes in constitutional law and science, the only thing I teach these days is the LSAT. I collect different LSAT prep materials so that I can help any student, regardless of whether they prefer Kaplan, PowerScore, Prentice Hall, 7Sage, or "LSAT for Dummies." Every single five-star rating I have received as a WyzAnt tutor has been from a student who wanted to do better on the LSAT.

Whether you want to get your score up from 130 or beyond 170, I want to help--and I know how. After 40 years of teaching, I don't use a "cookie cutter approach" with my students. I will help you design a study plan that is based on your strengths, weaknesses, limits and resources. Together, we'll figure out how to achieve your goals in a personalized way that makes the most of your study habits, works around your work schedule, and maximizes your motivation. Think of me as a personal trainer for your brain.

Sounds good? It is. But don't just take my word for it. Give me one hour of your time and we'll start designing your personal plan today. WyzAnt's "Good Fit Guarantee" means you don't have to pay unless I'm just what you're looking for. This is your chance to spend an hour with a Harvard Law grad with decades of legal experience who knows all about acing the LSAT and is eager to help you make your dreams come true. "The best of the best for any LSAT student!"

- Jordan, Little Elm, TX on 4/27/16
Scott replied on 6/3/2016

Jordan was scoring VERY low when she initially contacted me--which seemed odd, because she is bright, diligent, and committed to succeeding at the LSAT. We were able to zero in on the factors that were holding her back, and she has made remarkable gains ever since. Students like Jordan are what make me love being a tutor!

"Jodi" had done a lot of work before she contacted me, and it showed. She had mastered the basics in the books but was still scoring lower than she wanted. A little bit of one-on-one tutoring enabled her to make dramatic gains in just three weeks.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

LSAT

I only tutor the LSAT, so every single five-star rating I have ever received comes from someone just like you. My Harvard Law background, love of logic, and passion for teaching are here to help.

The best of the best for any LSAT student!

Scott not only is incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable... He listens to his students, and cares about their concerns for their legal future. I got more from one session with Scott, and how well he explained the matters I struggled with than I have 5 months of books and other tutoring. I can't say enough amazing things about Scott, and I know he will help me succeed!
