Hi, I’m Amanda! I’ve always believed that learning should feel like an engaging conversation rather than a chore. I hold a Master’s degree in History, a Bachelor's in History with a minor in English Literature, with nearly a decade of combined experience, I’ve had the joy of working with a wonderful variety of students. My experience ranges from teaching in university lecture halls to guiding energetic elementary school students in the classroom, as well as working one-on-one with students of all ages. I specialize in breaking down complex historical eras into fascinating stories, polishing academic essays, and helping students find their unique voice in their writing. Whether we are structuring a high-stakes college research paper, prepping for exams, or building foundational reading skills, I meet my students exactly where they are. I have also had experience in assisting students with business writing, prepping for interviews, as well as learning English as a second language.
My tutoring philosophy centers around building confidence and making sure my students feel truly heard. I know that writing an essay or decoding a historical text can feel incredibly overwhelming, so I focus on breaking assignments down into bite-sized, manageable pieces. Together, we will brainstorm, outline, and work through revisions in a completely stress-free environment. I don't believe in dry memorization; I want my students to understand the bigger picture and the "why" behind the facts. My ultimate goal is for you or your child to walk away from our sessions not just with better grades, but feeling confident, capable, and proud of your work.
