I have worked as a chemistry teacher for the past 9 years at my local high school teaching freshmen up to seniors in several different science classes. I graduated from Marshall University in 2016 with my BA in Secondary Education with a certification in chemistry. This laid the foundation for me to start teaching chemistry, as well as other science classes at my local high school. Through this experience I have learned from students what approaches work and did not work to help them with the learning process. Which is how I have changed a adapted my teaching style in the classroom and in my tutoring sessions with students.

Through the past nine years I have also been tutoring students in all of my science classes as well as helping students in their math classes of prealgebra, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I have worked with some 7th and 8th grade students helping them with their math classes and concepts, as well as a handful of elementary students with math and science concepts.

Overall, I love having the chance to teach and tutor students with challenging and difficult concepts. Helping students to learn and master concepts and seeing the light blub flip on for them is always a joyful and exciting moment for me! I am a person that believes students can learn and I have learned myself to adapt on the fly and come up with a different approach if the first one isn't working. I have learned that the approach I like taking in tutoring and teaching is showing students were we are going to go and then build them up to that level a step at a time. With several checks in between those steps.

ACT Science

ACT Science

As a high school science teacher I was asked early on to help students at my school with raising their science ACT scores so they could get different scholarships. I have helped students that were scoring in the mid to high teens get their scores into the mid 20s and in some cases into the low 30s. I like to share the tricks to the test to help students with raising their science ACT scores.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught multiple high school science classes in the past nine years of teaching. Covering many of the concepts covered and discussed in science, including the ones that involve the use of algebra skills. I have helped with tutoring several students at the high school level to have better understanding of the concepts and how to apply math skills. I have also had to help tutor students to learn certain math skills they were missing so they could perform the math in, not only our science classes, but their math courses as well.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have taught multiple high school science classes in the past nine years of teaching. Covering many of the concepts covered and discussed in science, including the ones that involve the use of algebra I, algebra II, and geometry skills. I have helped with tutoring several students at the high school level to have better understanding of the concepts and how to apply math skills. I have also had to help tutor students to learn certain math skills they were missing so they could perform the math in, not only our science classes, but their math courses as well.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I have been working as a high school chemistry teaching for the past nine years. This will be my tenth year of teaching high school chemistry. This year is extra exciting because I will be teaching the AP Chemistry course at my school as well. During my undergraduate degree I spent a lot of time in chemistry courses where I received grades of A's and B's for the courses.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have been teaching science courses of multiple different subjects for the past nine years now. I have worked with and tutor students of multiple different ages and grades. I have helped elementary level students to grasp understanding of the math and science concepts they have been covering in their classes to prepare for the upcoming tests. Those students scored an A or B on those exams.

Five Stars for an Amazing Chemistry Tutor

Kevin has been an outstanding chemistry tutor for my son. He is not only extremely knowledgeable in the subject but also very patient and encouraging, which makes a big difference in my child’s confidence. Kevin takes the time to explain concepts in different ways until my son fully understands, and he’s always flexible with scheduling. It’s clear that he truly cares about his students’ success. We are so grateful for his support and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dedicated and effective tutor!

Amazing tutor, Made it all clicked...

My son had been struggling in Honors Geometry, and with one session, Kevin made it all click. He had great feedback and instead of just reviewing the problems, he created the basis for understanding them. I have used many tutors and this has been by far our best experience.
