Hello! My name is Anna and I am a recent college graduate from West Virginia University! I majored in Criminology and double minored in History and Psychology. Throughout my years as a student, I found that when the teacher or professor made the class more fun and engaging, I did better as a student. When I tutor, I try to make sure that there's a good balance between learning the material and having fun while doing it. Learning should be fun for all students!

Writing is something I did not only in school but also on the side as a hobby. I do some creative writing in my free time which has allowed my skills as a writer to sharpen. I am very good at proofreading other people's writing and giving back helpful criticism. I find working one on one when working on a paper to be extremely helpful in the writing process since it allows for an outside perspective.

I absolutely love history! I find it so fascinating which is why I decided to minor in it. World history is my favourite history because you get to learn about all the different events going on in the world. I love to teach history in a fun and interesting story-telling way. I find the more fun it is, the easier it is to remember!

I have been playing the cello for more than 15 years! I actively played in an orchestra for 10 years before I started playing the cello on the side while in college. Now I continue to play as a hobby and as a private teacher. I have experience in teaching beginners how to play the cello, as well as teaching more advanced students harder techniques. I also have done some arranging and composing in the past. But what I love most about teaching the cello is seeing kids go from being nervous or unsure to confident and wanting to play all the time.

I want all my students to have the best experience when working with me and I also want to improve my tutoring skills. So any feedback from students and parents is greatly appreciated! If you are interested in a lesson with me or have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Excellent, patient, relatable tutor

My daughter needed help with her AP US History test. She has ADHD and usually *hates* when I suggest a tutor. After messaging with Anna and her reassurances that not only could she help my daughter with AP History, but she could also help her with suggestions on how to handle school and the test with ADHD, we signed her up. It was the best decision. My daughter liked working with her so much that she scheduled additional sessions on her own! I can't say enough how much she normally hates working with a tutor and how big this was. Anna was so patient and understanding and really helped my daughter through any anxiety she had. My daughter took the test--it went so well, she had very little anxiety and even finished early. Not only was Anna knowledgeable on the subject, but she really know how to reach my kid. A huge thank you, Anna! If I could give you a big hug, I would!

I highly recommend this tutor

Anna has excellent mastery of the English language. She helped me by editing a psychology research study. She made the edits on extremely short notice, with high quality, was very personable, and provided a very useful service. I can confidently say that she is an awesome person who will help you on academic papers.

Great Cello Teacher!

I have two daughters who have been taking beginning cello lessons with Anna B for 7 months now. Anna is organized and has a plan on how to help my kids learn cello. She provides the music, and gives them options occasionally, offering two different choices of pieces that are both at their current level to keep their interest. My girls have very different personalities, but Anna is great with both personalities and both girls love her. I have been amazed at their improvement over the last 7 months. Even though the focus of our lessons is cello, she is interested in the whole person and you can tell she loves the kids and loves teaching them. Another thing I love is that she plans ahead and will schedule a month at a time, so you don't have to question at the last minute whether or not you're having lessons. She also provides regular feedback, both to the kids and to me as the parent. I have recommended Anna to parents of cello players in my children's orchestra previously, so I wanted to write a review for parents we don't know as well.

Invaluable and Patient

Entering high-school orchestra was such a struggle for me, and Anna helped me catch up and now I can play even higher level music. Such a relatable tutor and makes everything teachable even when it looks impossible. Really recommend her for all levels of cello and no matter the challenge Anna is always up for it. Totally recommend her for tutoring, she's definitely worth it!
