Hi! I'm Alex. I received my PhD in Economics from West Virginia University in 2023 and am currently an Assistant Professor of Economics and Data Analytics at Berry College, a liberal arts college that is ranked #1 in undergraduate teaching quality among regional southern universities. I teach courses in business statistics, principles of economics (micro and macro), intermediate microeconomics, data analytics in R, and causal inference. (I also tutor game theory!)

I have nine years of professional tutoring experience (and five years of university teaching experience), two of which were spent at the Learning Assistance and Resource Center of West Chester University. There, I went through three levels of College Reading and Learning Association Certification, and have been a "Master Certified Tutor" since December of 2017. I have thousands of hours of tutoring experience, about half of which is professional while the other half is freelance (such as on Wyzant).

Helping students understand concepts fundamentally and improve their grades is the most rewarding feeling in the world. I love being able to use my knowledge to make people's lives easier, and to help them get more out of their education. I make sure no student, no matter how much trouble they're having grasping the material, feels inadequate; I know that everyone learns at a different pace and I always enjoy tutoring no matter the comprehension level of the student.

As a PhD student at WVU, I simultaneously taught multiple large in-person sections of Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Causal Inference in R (RStudio), and Applied Research Methods (the senior capstone course for economics majors). I have also published several papers in peer-reviewed academic journals.

At Berry, I've designed the first ever Causal Inference class and am pioneering the development of the Data Analytics degree in our AACSB certified business school.

Feel free to shoot me a message and I will get back to you within a few minutes!

Amazing tutor

By far the best Econ tutor. I've tried many different tutors, both more and less expensive, and Alexander is the best. The only microeconomics tutor I will be using going forward.

Very knowledgeable, patient, and thorough!

I have been working with Alexander for a few weeks now and his help is extremely valuable. I am in my second to last semester for my Master's in Public Health with a very busy work and school schedule, and he is helping me through my microeconomics class. He knows the subject matter well and explains it in a straightforward way that is easy to understand! Highly recommended.

R tutoring

Alex was really knowledgeable about the statistical concept of mediation and correcting coding errors that I was running into. He also offered additional resources to look up on my own for future reference. I recommend him to help you with your path to understanding R programming and mediation analyses.

Thank you for the kind words! :)

So knowledgeable and a great teacher

I feel confident that I am mastering the concepts with Alexander - it is rare to find someone who is super knowledgeable and also great at explaining it to someone who doesn’t know the topic at all.
