I graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in forensic science. But I also loved math throughout my time in grade school and I took AP Calculus in 11th grade. I've always loved working with kids and helping them grow in their education. I was in a Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow program in 11th grade where I assisted a 5th grade teacher in preparing lessons, grading papers, and helping the students with their in-class assignments. I also taught some of the lessons independently. This class introduced me to the fundamentals of teaching elementary students in every subject and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I have also done some volunteer work at the local Y in Virginia Beach where I helped kids from Pre-K to 8th grade with their homework (mostly math, science and reading). And I helped a family friend in the 4th grade with mixed fractions.
I will be sure to cater the sessions to the needs of each child. I have always gotten positive feedback from the kids, parents, and supervisors that I've worked with, and I am looking forward to helping more children improve their performance in school!
