I love to teach because I love to learn. It's just that simple. I spend at least 4-6 hours each week learning something new. And learning something is more than just reading about it; I also like to live it and experience it, finding out as much as I can.
My approach is to build a foundation of understanding first, then to create a framework for what I'm teaching. Then finally a step-by-step approach to each element of the subject. The end result is that an individual student can pause when they need to and not lose any information. Clarity is important, so I always allow plenty of time for questions and clarifications.
My 30+ years in professional photographic imaging has given me a great deal of experience and education with all forms of photographic equipment, from cameras and lenses, to lighting, props, background systems and more. My experience includes everything from the initial customer contact, through the consultation and job, and into post-processing with everything from Lightroom & Photoshop to lesser known processing and selling software (such as those from Anthropics, Imagenomic, NIK, and TimeExposure).
Satisfaction is important. A well-trained mind is far more valuable than one who is just learning here and there. I love to teach because I love to learn. It's just that simple. Outstanding professional and knowledgeable in his arena of photography. A great help to me with my questions and especially things I never thought to ask of. Learning Photography is definitely wide and broad.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Microsoft Publisher is the only tool I use for creating brochures, flyers, and online marketing materials.
While considered "old school" by some, there's very few things you cannot do in Microsoft Publisher, especially if you are creative and know how to insert backgrounds, create WordArt, and add in other elements to your publication.
I can provide several examples of projects completed in MS Publisher.
I have been practicing photography since 1974, and professionally since 1982. I have been a full-time pro since 2001 and continue to operate my photography business daily.
I taught at Shepherd University from 2001-2008 in subjects covering studio photography and sports photography. No student ever failed.
Presently, I offer classes once or twice a month at my studio on everything from basic camera operation to complete workshops.
