I have a great love for teaching that stems from a very positive relationship with my parents, who were my greatest supporters. My father was a great teacher in the areas of academics, sports, world and United States history. He taught Sunday School for nearly 30 years and had a great passion for reading and studying many different subjects. I believe he created a hunger in me to teach students that I help become better learners. After teaching in ministry for 18 years I went on to be a full time high school teacher in Virginia for 13 years and I am still fulfilling a teaching role as a substitute teacher in Cabell County West Virginia.

While a teacher in Allegheny County Virginia I was privileged to be on staff at a high performing school with high expectations for teachers. I was pushed to be at my best every day. I considered classroom maintenance a high priority and always challenged and encouraged my students to do their best. I enjoyed the teaching experience and believe I made a difference in my student's educations. I faced students at different learning and intelligence levels. I would delight in being able to help students who are facing challenges mastering history.

From the youngest age I talked about historical events with my father and developed a thirst for history. I love to teach history at a level where a student can understand the subject matter. I use critical thinking as a part of my lesson plans and focus on what students need most to master.
