My name is Bryn, and I am a current medical student with a strong background in the biological sciences. I graduated cum laude from Gettysburg College with bachelor’s degrees in Health Sciences and Public Policy and a minor in Biology. While I was in college, I worked as an organic chemistry TA, where I helped students understand complicated chemical reactions. I also worked in a biology research where I studied RNA-binding proteins and host-microbiome interactions with intestinal epithelial stem cells. I then attended Georgetown University, where I earned a master’s degree in Physiology & Biophysics. At Georgetown, I was immersed in the medical school curriculum, where I learned biology, biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology alongside medical students. While there, I participated in a gross cadaver lab, analyzing dissections done by medical students. I also contributed to a published research paper using miRNAs to reverse cardiac hypertrophy.
I have always enjoyed teaching, and through my experience as a TA for organic chemistry, I was able to refine my teaching style. I pride myself on meeting my students where they are, and using multiple strategies and modalities (diagrams, analogies, practice questions) to cultivate a mastery of whatever concept they are studying. I look forward to helping students build confidence and succeed in subjects such as biology, anatomy, physiology, and genetics.
