I have enjoyed tutoring throughout high school, college, and even while in medical school. I have worked as a tutor since 2012 in various cities, including Pittsburgh, Boston, and Chicago. I graduated medical school from a Top 20 institution, and I hope to help others with my knowledge and abilities. I am a clear speaker, an easygoing person, and I value and respect the variety of learning styles that each student possesses.

I scored in the 97th percentile on my MCAT purely through self-study, with a distinction of scoring in the 100th percentile on the Verbal section. I have longitudinal experience with the MCAT since 2013 with familiarity with both the old and new MCAT and how it has changed over time. Whether it is working extensively to review the basic science material, setting up an individualized study plan, or working with a student to assess progress and identify techniques to break through a slump in practice tests scores, I believe I am able to help any student reach measured and consistent improvements on his or her MCAT. Every student I have consistently tutored has shown marked improvement.

I scored in the 99th percentile on my ACT and have achieved multiple perfect section scores under testing conditions. More important than my own stats, however, is the variety of teaching styles and techniques that I employ to help students achieve their absolute best score. All my students truly learn both the knowledge AND the test taking skills necessary to have consistent success on the ACT. I also have experience with a variety of scientific, mathematic, and philosophical subjects, with particular expertise in tutoring both General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry topics. I solely tutor the subjects in which I feel comfortable, so feel free to reach out if you believe I can be of assistance.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. My goal is to help others, and if I do not believe I am suited to be your tutor, I will let you know as soon as possible.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I have been a dedicated one-on-one tutor for all sections of the ACT exam for several years and have prior experience tutoring students for the ACT exam since high school. I recognized that the Reading section can be a source of great stress for students, as it is typically one of the most time-intensive components of the exam. By working individually with students, I find that we are able to find strategies that work within the student's own approach to the exam. By developing a careful and considered approach that focuses on rapidly identifying information within the passage and applying this to questions accurately, I find that students are soon able to realize their full potential.
ACT Science

ACT Science

I have been a dedicated one-on-one tutor for the all ACT exam sections for several years and have prior experience tutoring students for the ACT exam since high school. I recognized that the Science section can be a source of great stress for students, as it is typically one of the most time-intensive components of the exam. By working individually with students, I find that we are able to find strategies that work within the student's own approach to the exam. By developing a careful and considered approach that focuses on the importance of understanding and breaking down graphs and tables, students are able to rapidly identify the necessary facts to accurately answer the exam questions.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

As a medical student, I frequently reviewed basic biochemistry information, including for board exams. I have previously tutored this section for students in both college classes and for their MCAT exam. I believe that I am able to emphasize the critical elements of the course and explain difficult concepts in clear and logical steps.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am a graduated medical student with a passion for tutoring Chemistry. As an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh, after completing all my Chemistry courses with an "A", I was a TA for six semesters and worked closely with my professor to not only explain complex Chemistry topics, but also to appreciate the styles of learning for individual students. I feel that my approach to teaching Chemistry is multi-faceted and can involve the use of diagrams, example problems, or even 3-D modeling. I have had great success tutoring students in Chemistry at all levels since graduating in 2015, and I always aim to meet the students goals, whether it be truly learning and appreciating the content itself, receiving the grade they wish on their transcript, or both!
MCAT

MCAT

I scored in the 97th percentile on the MCAT. I self-studied all of the material, and I believe I have a useful study strategy that can be applied to others. I am educated in both the nature of the test and the content of the test. I have tutored multiple students in all of the necessary sections of the MCAT, and they all have had great success in reaching their goals. I actively reviewed the necessary content covered in the MCAT as a medical student and through my frequent MCAT tutoring sessions.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

I achieved a grade of "A" in both Organic Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry II at the University of Pittsburgh. I also tutored Organic Chemistry for multiple semesters on a personal basis while an undergraduate. I understand both the material and the mindset needed to have success in the class, and my students have had frequent success. I continue to actively review the material as a tutor for both Organic Chemistry and for the MCAT.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I graduated from medical school in the Spring of 2020. Throughout my time in medical school, I have proofread and edited many documents for students, including personal statements for those seeking admission to health professional schools (MD, DO, and PA schools). I strongly believe in the individual telling their personal journey through their own writing of their personal statement, while also remaining passionate about helping students who would like guidance and feedback from a knowledgeable source.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have spoken on numerous occasions to public audiences as large as 500 people. I took two public speaking courses at the University of Pittsburgh, both of which I received an outstanding grade of A on each speech. One class was focused on the general topics of speaking, while the other focused on how to explain scientific topics to a variety of audiences. I have helped several others through general feedback and acting as an audience, and as such, I feel that I can continue to truly assist others, no matter their level of previous experience or ability.
Swimming

Swimming

I have been a swimmer since I was 5 years old. I completed many years of lessons, and I was varsity for four years on my high school's swim team. I have completed triathlons and still continue to swim on a regular basis.
Track & Field

Track & Field

I competed in the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m, 4x400m relay and 4x800m relay for four years during high school. I was a component to the team that qualified for state in Illinois in the 4x800m and 4x400m races. I still continue to run on a regular basis.

In-depth and Informative Tutor

Seth and I mainly discussed studying for CARS, but also talked about applying to and being in medical school. In addition to specific approaches for practicing CARS passages, Seth provided a new perspective to dealing with the MCAT as a whole. I found our session to be quite helpful and informative, and look forward to implementing these new ideas further.

Great!

Seth is great with planning and strategy. He can set up an MCAT plan for you that focuses on improving weakness and harnessing strengths in the allotted period of time available to study.

review for exam

Seth helped me review a few of the concepts I have been taught in the last few weeks. With his help, I feel I much more confident than I did when I first started.
