Hello! I'm David, and I'm here to help you succeed!
I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree in History and Government from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, as well as additional graduate-level coursework in the fields of history and English. I've made the Dean's List a number of times, and have passed the Praxis exam for World and U.S. History. I have many years of experience as an actor, a director, a production assistant, and a playwright. I've also served as a journalist, columnist, and editor for the college newspaper. Since my graduation, I have sought out opportunities to learn and improve myself, and welcome the chance to pass my hard-earned knowledge on.
I specialize in teaching English and social studies, with particular emphasis on writing and history. My teaching method focuses on foundational principles first, before specific applications. It is important to me that students understand not only the necessary facts, but how to discover the facts on their own. It is in this spirit that I seek to establish the proper means of research as a vital part of study. Secondarily, I focus on goal-oriented learning, where every step students take is in pursuit of their particular aim. Every lesson is a stepping stone towards their own personal goal.
I offer students a free consultation meeting prior to the beginning of tutoring to ensure that I can meet all of your needs. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule lessons. I look forward to hearing from you!
