By intentionally seeking the best approach to help a student understand concepts or master skills, I thoroughly study for and prepare for each tutoring session. Every student learns or feels the challenge of certain subject differently. I respond to that after first tutoring session, again by thoughtfully thinking of the most effective way to explain the subject to assure the help from my tutoring is translated into permanent gainful ability for the student. I do heavy lifting for my students by organizing and presenting concepts and information of a certain subject in a systematic view and by diving into details, specific rules and nuances throughout my tutoring. I also share practice materials, lesson plans, presentations, and other resources with my students with no reservation, free of extra charge. Whether a student's goal is to get a perfect score or improve his or her score a great deal, my goal is to provide the student with confidence, belief and power to reach his or her goal.

I studied TOEFL thoroughly when I was preparing for my own TOEFL in 1997 for graduate school admission. I scored 623 (total was 660 then) with percentile rank of 93% in October 1997. I began to live in America and have used English professionally and personally everyday ever since then. As a result, my comprehensive English ability and perspective on studying and teaching TOEFL have crystallized. As a tutor, I help students improve comprehensive English language ability and test taking skills. I teach students how to build near native American's listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, if not better, how to perform their best at the test, and explain practice or actual past tests question by question to ensure a great result. I know very well the ACT English section questions and concepts in the tests. Depending on the student's current English ability, I use two to four sessions (two hours each) to help my student thoroughly understand the unwritten rules, patterns and quirks of ACT tests in English section, refresh every single rules (there is only a limited number of them) in the tests with my student, and provide several more practice questions after refreshing each ACT English rule. By taking care of the three critical components of achieving ACT perfect score, thorough understanding of the test, mastering of ACT English rules, and a lot of practice, anyone can score the highest possible score, given the student have time to complete the training process with me before the registered exam date.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I know very well the ACT/SAT secrets and patterns of Reading section. Depending on the student's Reading ability, I use two to six sessions (two hours each) to help my student thoroughly understand the unwritten rules, patterns and secrets of ACT/SAT tests in Reading section, teach my student the characteristics of the single correct answer and the thee wrong answers, so my student can confidently identify the clear, definite, and objectively predictable answer to a reading question as the answer to a Math question. I also work with my student on better time management so not finishing a section on ACT/SAT test is not a response from my student when asked about the test. The only regret I have is for students who did not use me or other able tutors and didn't get a perfect score on ACT/SAT reading. I'm not for a test dominant education. But the ability to do well on ACT/SAT Reading is life long as it is useful in later career development as well.
