I'm Nick. I earned a BS and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago). I have also earned an MBA from the Executive Masters Program at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). I have always been passionate about technical problems and mathematical concepts and have applied that passion to my various jobs within the manufacturing sector. Although I've never been a full-time teacher, I have discovered that I have the ability to break down difficult concepts and subjects into manageable elements and mentor my peers and coworkers effectively. My hands-on math tutoring experiences have been tested by assisting my two children with their advanced math homework from junior high through high school. Both of them have since graduated from excellent universities, having minimal struggles with their math and science-related studies. I have taught adult-learners struggling with Algebra 1, as part of their first year requirements at Northeastern Illinois University (Chicago). Although only teaching this program for one summer semester, I earned high satisfaction ratings from my students.
Observers and participants of my mentoring & tutoring methods have always remarked on how well I know the materials and how patient I am with my 'students'. My goals have always been to share my passion for knowledge and to show the practical and useful aspects of the subjects I teach. My lesson plans will combine theory along with fun practical applications that will make the subjects easily understood and assist the students with a higher level of retention. My tutoring capabilities extend beyond Algebra I, as my MBA education has broadened my experiences and passion in non-technical concepts and has allowed me to better manage personnel to achieve their individual successes. My 30+ years of professional experiences hiring, motivating and developing employees has provided a strong basis to be effective at Career Development.
