Wendy has been drawing and painting since she was a child, but got serious about in in 2009. She works primarily in acrylics, watercolors, and "scribble sticks," usually in a realistic style. An award-winning portrait painter described her as a "colorist," which isn't surprising, since she works with both the classic artist's color wheel and the process-color wheel used in commercial publication.
She was inspired to take up photography while going to school in Milwaukee and later while working as the production coordinator of a weekly newspaper, both of which guided her to develop a predominantly photojournalistic approach to her photography.
Wendy's teaching began when she had to take over a 6-session writing workshop after the organizer had a stroke. Since then, she's guided paintings in acrylic and watercolor, and has published several books, including instructional titles.
