I have extensive language experience, and speak six languages apart from Spanish (Serbian, Macedonian, Croatian, Bosnian, Slovenian, Bulgarian). When working with students I prioritize patience and understanding as I work to find what teaching methods work best for them. I am a firm believer that not all students learn the same and I truly hope to be flexible and provide personalized instruction.
In my free time I enjoy exploring new coffee shops and finding good reads. A personal favorite author of mine I would recommend to anyone hoping to delve into the world of Spanish Literature is Isabel Allende. I mention my passions for reading because I find it one of the best ways to immerse yourself in language. I am also devoted to helping students improve their reading and spelling skills, as this makes language acquisition all the easier. Through my reading and spelling instruction I hope to make a smooth transition for anyone hoping to add the Spanish language into their set of skills! I feel that I can best help students enrolled in Spanish courses looking for homework help and study tips from Elementary to High School ages.
For my Speech Pathology and Audiology major many of our classes focus on how literacy plays into language acquisition. I have done research with a professor at my University analyzing the ways that children who speak AAE (African American English) learn to read and write in school and the hurdles they must overcome. I have also participated in a study in which I was asked to score preschool age children reading retention capabilities.
