Hello, My name is Roberto L. and I have 7 years of experience teaching high school math. I have a bachelors of science in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh. I have always enjoyed helping people accomplish their goals. I chose a career in education and in coaching in order to achieve my desire to help others. I have taught full-time in a middle school as well as high school. Teaching has exposed me to learners of all varieties. Whether it is advanced students trying to get ahead or students that need extra guidance, I have experience accommodating to all learners.
I have taught CPM curriculum, which is cooperative and group-focused. I have taught Savvas, which promotes student discovery. I provide a lot of scaffolding and differentiation in my day to day lessons. I have worked with students who are Spanish speakers (ELL). I also have students in my classroom with IEP's and have 504 plans. Every day the spectrum of learners I see allows me to practice different tutoring techniques that I can use to help tutor new students.
My goal is to take the skill set that I have learned through coaching athletes and teaching students and apply that to tutoring students. In all fields of work, my mission has been improvement and performance. I enjoy differentiating plans for different learners and consistently setting goals to achieve. I believe tutoring is a great channel for me to continue to pursue my mission of helping others.
