Hi, my name is Ahmed, and I am an undergraduate biology student on the pre-med track at Boston College. I have taken the core pre-med science sequence, including organic chemistry, biology, general chemistry, and physics, and I understand how overwhelming organic chemistry can feel when students are first learning mechanisms, synthesis, and reaction patterns. My goal as a tutor is to make orgo feel less like memorization and more like a system that students can actually reason through.
I tutor Organic Chemistry I and II, with a focus on mechanisms, acid-base chemistry, stereochemistry, substitution and elimination reactions, spectroscopy, synthesis problems, and exam preparation. My approach is very step-by-step: I like to start by identifying what the student is struggling with, then break problems down into patterns, electron movement, and decision-making strategies. I also help students learn how to study for orgo more effectively, especially by recognizing reaction trends instead of trying to memorize every individual example.
I have experience helping classmates and other students work through difficult science material in one-on-one settings, especially in pre-med courses where the pacing can be stressful. In sessions, I use a virtual whiteboard or shared notes to draw mechanisms clearly, walk through practice problems, and make sure the student can explain the reasoning back to me before moving on. Whether a student needs weekly support, help before an exam, or a clearer explanation of a specific topic, I try to keep tutoring focused, patient, and practical.
