Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design BFA (Drawing Illustration)
I have a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, drawing major, painting minor. I spent 12 years working in the Milwaukee area as a graphic designer. I've used computer programs as well to create artwork; Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I have been working in Necedah schools for almost 7 years. I have worked with special needs students and general education. I have taught summer school Art camp at UW Marshfield for the past two years. I have been a sports coach for 3 sports; HS cross country (coed), youth and HS basketball (girls) and MS track (coed), for a combined total of 17 seasons. I am currently completing a program with DPI to obtain my art teacher license. I have held a special education program aide license since 2009.
I love working with students one on one, and developing a strong relationship. I also studied at the Milwaukee HS of the Arts, and truly enjoyed the small groups of intense study. I believe its really important to have the opportunity to explore different things in detail, without fear of rejection. I am a very positive person and connect well with all types of people.
I am very passionate about art. I learned art by doing it by hand. I believe learning how to draw and paint, also means learning how to really see your subject. Art is about exploring ideas, and trying new things. Learning the basics and building out ward from there. It's also important to learn things about the past, integrating art history into the lesson. Technical skill comes from practice and never willing to give up. Art also teaches creative problem solving, which is so important in life.
If you want to learn to draw or paint realistic subjects, I can truly help you learn, while you enjoy the process as well. I have a fun sense of humor and a lot of encouragement for anyone who wants to try. I truly look forward to working with those who enjoy creating art.
