I am a licensed K-8 teacher with 17+ years of experience teaching ages 2-16 in a variety of capacities. My classroom experience has mainly been in Kindergarten and Preschool but I have also taught two-year-old preschool, first grade, second grade, and fourth grade. I am a homeschool mom to three wonderfully curious children. We are a neurodiverse family and I believe in creating opportunities for all children to learn and grow. My teaching experiences include a variety of settings: Montessori, public schools, private schools, and international schools. I have been teaching English as a Second Language online for the last 2.5 years. I have taught in the US states of Colorado, Wisconsin, and New Mexico as well as the countries of Kuwait and Fiji. I love teaching young children using hands-on and multisensory approaches to find an approach that suits each learner's needs. Learning should be fun and I always do my best to help children enjoy their journey.
I hold a Master of Education degree from Regis University in Colorado. My Bachelor of Music degree comes from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with an emphasis in Flute Performance. While in Kuwait I studied through the Educational Collaborative for International Schools and Cambridge University to obtain my International Teacher Certificate. I believe education is a lifelong journey and am always working to further my knowledge and skills through self-study, workshops, and courses.
Having taught many years in Preschool and Kindergarten, I have a broad array of approaches to help young learners understand early math concepts. I have also completed extensive additional math training while teaching New Mexico. Math was a difficult subject for me as a child so I always do my best to find a method that works great for each of my students.
I enjoy finding real-life applications of all concepts so that students can connect to what they are learning. I have completed extensive additional training in Science education while teaching in New Mexico
