Bio

I am an Environmental Economist with a PhD in Economics from UCLA, and over 15 years of tutoring experience. This includes a wide variety of subjects, primarily at the college, MBA and graduate levels, sometimes AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. I have covered subjects such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, probability, statistics, game theory, and environmental economics. I am an Environmental Economist with a PhD in Economics from UCLA, and over 15 years of tutoring experience. This includes a wide variety of subjects, primarily at the college, MBA and graduate levels, sometimes AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. I have covered subjects such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, probability, statistics, game theory, and environmental economics. With regards to statistical software, I regularly use R and have some familiarity with Excel; I am unable to help with other software, e.g. Stata.

I know that math heavy subjects can be particularly intimidating for some students, so I work to present concepts in a number of different ways as a part of searching for what precisely makes the material click. I frequently use real life examples and provide links to data and news articles to help make concepts more concrete and make the material accessible and understandable for my students.

I am also familiar with teaching and tutoring students from a diverse set of backgrounds, including many international students in the United States and students with coursework in the British university system.

Outstanding year after year

Andrew is an outstanding tutor. He is helping me maintain my 3.75 GPA. He breaks down complex economics subjects. I really appreciate his direct, clear tutoring. He helps me understand the concepts and just doesn't give me the answer. I'm a junior majoring in Economics/Music with an accounting minor and plan to attend law school. I would not have gotten through some of my economics courses without Andrew's tutoring.

I highly recommend Andrew for questions on graduate level statistics ( esp. probability) and macroeconomics! He breaks down all the concepts in a manner that sticks and makes you wonder how you didn’t understand it in the fist place ( in a good way!).

Andrew helped with intermediate micro. Great use of technology and very clear instruction. He worked on notes ahead of time so the full instructional time was used efficiently. Jokes were also pretty good.

Breaks complex problems into manageable pieces & explains each step clearly

I worked with Andrew for a microeconomics class at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and was impressed with his ability to 1) quickly break multi-step problems into their component parts and 2) provide intuitive explanations for each step. Andrew was patient, knowledgeable and thorough; whenever I didn't understand something, he'd re-explain it in different ways until it clicked. He was also extremely responsive when it came to scheduling sessions, and he has availability throughout the day on weekdays and weekends. Cannot recommend him highly enough!
