Patient and passionate language tutor

Julie S.

I have taught grades K4-2nd grade for 24 years at Milwaukee German Immersion School (MGIS) as well as been language arts support assistant across the grade levels at MGIS (tutoring one-on-one) and in the Wauwatosa Public Schools (summer). I have a B.A. in German, elementary education, and a Masters in Children's Librarianship. I have a lifelong teaching license for grades PreK-3rd grade for the state of WI, a K-12 German license for WI, a PreK-3rd ESL license for WI. I speak speak fluent German and speak Spanish at the advanced-mid level, as measured by the ACTFL Oral proficiency test (2026).

I love tutoring students seeking to improve their German and Spanish, but I also enjoy helping both native English speakers and also non-native English speakers read and write more fluently in English. I have taught English to elementary and middle school children on the VipKid platform and currently help adults in other countries improve their English. I use a variety of approaches, depending on what most benefits a student's particular learning style and strengths. I incorporate much creativity in all my lessons to engage students and sustain motivation from lesson to lesson. I will give students time at the end of the lesson to practice what they have learned and am open to any suggestions from the students and their families about additional learning resources they may like to incorporate in the lessons.

Prospective students and their caregivers are welcome to email me to schedule an initial consultation with me to answer any further questions. I will answer any emails as soon as I can but I guarantee a response within 12 hours.
