Bio

It is that dreaded time of year: conferences. You sit down, hear the teacher’s sigh, and see a slight eye roll. Here we go again with the usual list of student sins… late work, messy desk, sloppy writing, daydreaming. "If only he would apply himself." Sound familiar? You leave feeling defeated, and your child feels like a loser. But he is not a loser. He has just been dropped into a rigid system led by linear thinkers who don't understand how his unique mind works—you might as well have...

He has just been dropped into a rigid system led by linear thinkers who don't understand how his unique mind works—you might as well have dropped him on Mars. Now, imagine a rover vehicle racing toward your child on this strange planet. I am the driver, ready to rescue him, guide him through the obstacles, and develop personalized strategies to help him thrive in his own way.

As a licensed veteran teacher with over 20 years of experience, I am uniquely qualified to help neurodivergent and twice-exceptional (2e) children with their academic and organizational needs. I specialize in curriculum-based reading, structured writing, and elementary math for students with autism and ADHD. Neurodivergency is prevalent in my own family, so I have sat on both sides of that conference table; I know firsthand what it takes to raise these special children and navigate the school system. My approach focuses on building permanent cognitive development and confidence rather than just quick homework fixes. This teacher will never sigh or roll her eyes—I will smile and say, “We will figure this out together.” I look forward to partnering with your family to jumpstart this rescue mission!

Warmly,

Shelley

As a 20-year veteran educator, my ADHD and neurodivergent expertise is built on deep classroom and one-on-one experience, including two years in a Special Ed/ESL room with autistic and nonverbal learners, four years specializing with twice-exceptional (2e) students, and a year of dedicated individual autism tutoring. This extensive professional background is elevated by a profound personal understanding, as I am neurodivergent myself and have raised neurodivergent sons with ADHD autism. Because I live and work in this space daily, I specialize in designing highly visual, layered, and concise learning strategies that bypass executive dysfunction and keep easily distracted brains fully engaged. Parents trust me because I combine battle-tested classroom methods with the genuine empathy and patience of someone who truly understands the neurospicy mind.

With over 20 years of public school experience, I am a licensed educator specializing in tailored academic and behavioral interventions for neurodivergent, autistic, and ADHD learners. My extensive background includes designing specialized curriculum for twice-exceptional (2e) gifted students, as well as providing intensive language support for neurodivergent children within self-contained English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms. I excel at translating complex concepts in reading, writing, and elementary mathematics into highly engaging, one-on-one virtual sessions. By focusing heavily on executive functioning, processing skills, and confidence-building, I consistently help struggling students close their academic gaps and achieve long-term independence.
