My name is Justin P. I am from the southside of Chicago but currently live in the Milwaukee area. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Communication and a minor in Chemistry. Right after graduating from U of I I began working as a TA at a high school in the northern suburbs of Chicago. My passion for education began in that setting and I decided to pursue my Master's in Education as well as my teaching certificate in Middle School Science and LBS1 (Special Education teaching license). I received both in the summer of 2018.
In the Fall of 2018 I began teaching 7th and 8th grade science. I taught this from 2018-2022. In 2021, I received my high school LBS1 and began teaching high school special education in the fall of 2022. I currently teach two Physical Science self-contained classes as well as Chemistry and Physics which are co-taught. I really enjoy applying supports (accommodations and modifications) to help the population of students I serve have success. A lot of the supports involve 1-on-1 instruction, which I feel like benefits my students the most, something I feel really confident with in assisting your student.
I currently work with students that are Freshman-Senior age (14-18 years old). However, as mentioned above I am certified and have worked with students in the age levels of 5th-8th grade (10-14 years old). I have been teaching now for 8 years and really enjoy seeing students have success and make gains in their education. In connecting with your student I hope to help them master the principles and content they are studying to have maximum success.
