My name is Sofia, and I am a passionate educator with over seven years of experience working for Milwaukee Public Schools. For the past five years, I’ve served as a special education teacher, supporting students across a wide range of disabilities and learning profiles. I’ve taught students from kindergarten through 12th grade, and my diverse classroom experience has equipped me to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of every learner. I approach each student with patience, creativity, and a belief in their ability to grow.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2020, along with minors in Theater and American Sign Language. I went on to complete my master’s degree in Exceptional Education with a certificate in Assistive Technology and Augmentative Design. This background allows me to incorporate technology, visual supports, and alternative communication strategies into my tutoring sessions when appropriate. I regularly use evidence-based practices and differentiation to ensure that each learner has the tools they need to succeed.

Outside of the classroom, I dedicate my time during school breaks to tutoring students one-on-one. I truly enjoy building relationships with students and helping them reach their academic goals in a supportive, engaging environment. I would love the opportunity to support your learning journey this summer and beyond!

I have supported students with autism in a variety of classroom settings throughout my seven years with Milwaukee Public Schools. My background includes teaching students on various points of the spectrum and tailoring instruction to meet their individual needs, using tools like visual supports, social stories, AAC, and sensory-friendly strategies. I earned my master’s in Exceptional Education with a certificate in Assistive Technology and Augmentative Design, which has given me a deeper understanding of communication and access. My approach emphasizes consistency, patience, and celebrating every milestone - big or small.

Elementary (K-6th)

I’ve worked with elementary students throughout my career, supporting their development in literacy, math, and foundational academic skills. My degree in Education and experience across grade levels allows me to scaffold learning in a way that is developmentally appropriate and engaging. I love using interactive and creative strategies to help young learners stay motivated and feel confident in their progress. Whether working on reading fluency, math facts, or executive functioning, I tailor each session to the child’s strengths and needs.
Hard of Hearing

Hard of Hearing

I have supported students with hearing loss in inclusive classroom environments, using strategies such as visual supports, clear enunciation, ASL, and written reinforcement. My undergraduate studies included a minor in American Sign Language (ASL), which has been instrumental in building communication bridges with hard of hearing students. I understand how important access and accommodations are, and I strive to make learning inclusive and barrier-free. My goal is always to empower students to participate confidently and fully in academic tasks.
