I graduated from Harvard in March 2024 with a B.A. in Chemistry and Physics and have been tutoring high school students for over 6 years in Math, English (writing), and college application help.

I specialize mostly in College Prep Tutoring. I love helping students find schools that match their personalities and interests, and then crafting an entire application that showcases who they are in an honest and compelling way. Every student I have worked with has been admitted into one of their top three schools, including but not limited to Amherst College, MIT, Northeastern, Cornell, and Harvard.

I also have more than five years of combined experience working in informal education settings, including children's museums, science museums, and wildlife education centers, and am comfortable teaching a variety of subjects to a wide range of audiences. Science, math, reading, and art can and should be fun!

Approved Subjects

Chemistry

Chemistry

I studied Chemistry and Physics at Harvard, and specialized in Materials Chemistry (the chemistry analogue to solid state physics). Because I studied multiple scientific disciplines, I can approach chemistry from both a conceptual and mathematical basis, which means that as a tutor I have multiple ways to explain the same concept depending on how each student learns.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I prioritize helping students find schools that match their unique personalities and interests. I will help them craft an entire application that showcases who they are in an honest and compelling way. I have met with students one on one and with their families to discuss the cultures at various schools, their learning and career goals, and what admissions committees are looking for. People tend to seek the most help with personal statements and supplemental essays, and for this I try to help them weave a narrative that ties their application together. Every student I have worked with has been admitted into one of their top three schools, including Amherst College, MIT, Northeastern, Cornell, and Harvard.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have been helping students craft personal statements since I was in high school and received my Harvard acceptance letter. Students I have helped have gotten into undergraduate programs at MIT, Harvard, Amherst College, Northeastern, and Cornell, and graduate programs at Tufts and Boston University. I have always been a creative writer, so I know how to tell a compelling story, and I have a keen attention to detail when it comes to grammar. I've proofread grant proposals and marketing materials while working at science and children's museums over the course of several years. I am passionate about AI-free writing and have a knack for bringing out a student's unique voice in their essays.
Photography

Photography

I have been shooting portraits and events professionally since I first got my camera 2017, starting with high school senior portraits for friends and eventually branching out to local businesses and professionals in my communities. I have studied art academically with The Art Effect, a nonprofit organization in Poughkeepsie, NY, which included an art study abroad program in Czechia, Germany, and Austria, as well as continuing education courses with the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). My professional photography work is available at anakimberphoto.com. I am happy to teach students technical and artistic concepts, whether they are looking to apply to art school, start a business, or simply expand their artistic knowledge base.
Physics

Physics

I studied Chemistry and Physics at Harvard with an emphasis on solid-state physics and materials chemistry. This degree required that I take all of the core physics major requirements with additional math courses. I also worked in a condensed matter physics laboratory, working on a project involving thin-film chemical synthesis.
