I am a passionate educator and have worked in education since moving to Milwaukee almost 10 years ago. After graduating from UW-Madison with a degree in Political Science, I was coaching and counseling high school students in MPS through a local AmeriCorps organization. In this role, I taught all sections of the ACT and test-taking strategies, and my students saw 20% growth. In addition, I provided college counseling and advice, including feedback and advice on essay writing, scholarships, and the broader application process.
Following two years of AmeriCorps, I went back to school and earned my Master's in International Affairs from Marquette University and was part of a graduate fellowship program that required me to work part-time. In that role, I worked at an educational non-profit where I provided instructional coaching to AmeriCorps members serving in a variety of schools. There I learned effective strategies for small group and individual interventions and tutoring.
Finally, for the past five years (I am in my sixth school year), I have been a full-time faculty member at a local high school. In this role, I have taught World History, U.S. Government and Politics, and AP U.S. Government and Politics. In addition, I taught an SAT Test-prep course for two years.
I love being a teacher and love working with young people. I look forward to working with you!
