Hi, I'm Allison! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a bachelors degree in Global Health, along with completing certificates in Health Policy and Environmental Studies. Throughout my academic career, I've realized multi-disciplinary learning has become my forte. I find that finding and engaging in connections across multiple subjects greatly increased my interest and understanding. During my professional career as an international teacher for the past two years, I have strived to utilize this practice; connecting difficult subjects to student interests.
As my time teaching internationally, have taught middle school ELL Reading courses along with High School Research and Capstone courses. I also have experience in Test Prep for the ACT, specializing in the Reading and Sciences sections. At my school, I developed an academic intervention program for middle school ELL students that focuses on English and Math development utilizing strategies commonly found in Montessori classrooms.
I strongly push for student centered learning and continuously assist students in taking ownership of their own education by working with students to develop challenging yet achievable goals to ensure their success and continued growth. During my first full lesson with the student, this will be the main focus, setting clear goals to ensure students will get the most out of each session together. I want the learning experience to best fit the student and welcome any additional resources or suggestions provided by students or parents.
