I am a senior at the University or Wisconsin River Falls and currently student teaching in a fourth grade classroom in Boyceville. I have also taught at Stonebridge (2nd and 3rd Grade) in Stillwater, MN and Battle Creek Elementary School (6th Grade) in St. Paul, MN. I am minoring in communicative disorders and have some experience with working with children with special needs.
My teaching style is that of a constructivist approach. I believe in using hands on lessons in order to enhance the lessons. Students need to see a connection in what they are learning and be able to relate it to their life and in their "world". I also feel that you need to have your lessons adapted for all learning types you can not teach in one style because not everyone learns in the same way. You need to have all the different parts of your lesson aimed at the various learning styles in order to assure that everyone of your student has the opportunity to learn.
I provide one on one instruction on a daily basis for my students, working with them during free time in order to insure they are understanding the curriculum.
